“Cheers to Zahir”

Wonderful dinner served by gracious staff. The decor is stunning, and very calming. It's a treat to dine in a place where you can actually talk to your companion. I had the honey pecan chicken and it was delectable. We cleaned our plates. Can't wait to return.

“Not bad, but Odd”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

I entertained several business guests here based on the recommendation of a local colleague and found it to be a strange experience. This place seems to be searching for an identity.
The feel inside is that of a large catering hall with not enough business. Part of the room was separated by a movable divider (just some unused tables behind it) and the tables in the main dining room were very spread out. Some other reviews called this out as a positive, but it seemed more like they were trying to fill the space up. The menu physically was dirty and worn. If you're going to use paper menus, should probably replace daily to keep them looking fresh and new, so this was a little off-putting. The wine list was very basic with nothing special on it.
The menu selections themselves offered a nice variety of mostly Italian-themed dishes but again some odd choices for appetizers for a supposed "fine dining" restaurant such as potato skins. Thought I many have wandered into Chili's by mistake.
The staff was friendly and Zahir stopped by to say hello and ask if everything was OK.
Overall, the food was quite good, and everyone at the table seemed happy with their meal, so I have to give them credit for that. This might be better for a casual family dinner than for a business dinner, but that being the case, the prices should be adjusted (downward) accordingly. Once they figure out what type of restaurant they want to be, this could be a good place, but cannot recommend it right now.

Looking for fine dining without ostentation in Milpitas, this is the place, italian and world fine food, classy and friendly at a time, large dining room well decorated although not very intimate, was there with a group of 10 and no one was disappointed

“Great food and atmosphere”

New Orleans chicken was awesome! Mushroom appetizer was also great. Bread Pudding for dessert. I was part of a party of 10 there for a business meeting that included very discerning diners and everyone seemed to be very happy with the food. The service was also very good.....not too overbearing but there when needed. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We were staying in Milpitas overnight before flying home from thye San Jose Airport. I looked at Tip Advisor reviews and saw Zahir's as the second best in Milpitas. So we decided to give it a try and were extremely pleased by the results. Firstly the tables are not crammed together so you actually have a chance to talk without worrying about others overhearing or being part of their conversations. Zahir's is a family operation with Zahir as the greeter, and his daughter and granddaughter as two of the servers. We started with a couple of specialty martinis which very very different and very good. We they shared a clam chowder which was wonderful. My wife had the veal piccata with rice and mixed vegetables which were all very good. I had the seafood tortellini in a marinara sauce. The portion was very large with lots of shrimp and scallops. The sauce was nicely seasoned. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert. Will just have to go again. We highly recommend Zahir's
