“Nice hotel, clean and comfy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

We stayed here last week as part of a wedding celebration. At first glance I thought we were staying at a lower end hotel. However, once we entered it appeared I was wrong. The place is nicer inside than out. There is a small little reception area/front desk that's decorated nicely and a courtyard off the front room for people to gather and have drinks (which you can get from the bar in the hotel...which was nice since it was a wedding.)

The rooms are rather large and have a seperate sitting area with TV and couch. The bathrooms are plenty big and have good, adjustable shower heads. There wasn't much for shampoo, body soap, etc. And what there was, wasn't great anyway. The bed was excellent and so were the pillows. They were just right for me, soft but not too hard.

I'm not too familiar with the area or what other hotel options you have in the Mission Viejo part of town but I'd go back for the price...just don't expect 5 star.

This is my first visit to the Ayres Hotel & Spa in Mission Viejo but it will not be my last stay at this hotel. The rooms are very nice and clean with a great King size bed, nice size bathroom, good sitting area and a refer with a freezer. The view from our window was over looking 241 with the mountains in the background. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like an important person. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have ever eaten at. All the hot dishes are hot and you can get freshly made items from the bar. All in all I had a great time staying here

Room Tip: Pick a room not on looking at the quad as the you might get some noise filtering up from the quad.

We stayed at this hotel for the first time from 10/11/13-10/13/13. We let them know ahead of time that we would arrive late as we were traveling from AZ. They were great in accommodating us for the late arrival. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. The made-to-order complimentary breakfast was better than many we have had. My husband would not stop raving about how great the coffee was, and although I do not enjoy coffee as much as he does, I had to agree with him. We didn't need to visit Starbucks during our trip.
If I had to make improvements, I would tell the staff to alert guests to having to pay the $6.50 total on the toll roads to get to their hotel. If there is a route anyone knows to avoid the two $3.25 tolls, then by all means...use it. Also, there were 2 wedding parties booked at the hotel while we were there, so if you think you might desire cocktails upon arrival, ask if there are wedding parties there. Upon our arrival, we could only get a beer and a screwdriver because they were almost completely dry because of the weddings, so the most popular or desirable cocktails were not available, and we arrived on a Friday night. Be prepared for an incidental charge of $75-$150 to be held on your card depending on how many nights you stay.

Overall, we enjoyed the experience. We did also like that it was very close to Saddleback Church. OH...we got 20% off of our bill because we used promo code: trip. Enjoy!

Room Tip: If you ask for a room away from the elevator on a higher floor, you may seriously impede your view t...

Dear Charli P.,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review on TripAdvisor to let others know about your recent stay at our hotel. We are so very appreciative of the compliments of our coffee and complimentary full American breakfast, it is nice to know that you enjoyed both! Also, we are glad to see that you thought our team members were helpful and pleasant to work with. Our sincerest apologies if the cocktails available were not to your liking, hopefully the next time you come to stay with us we will be able to better quench your thirst. As for the toll roads, there is an alternate route on El Toro Road for the next time you visit. Thank you again for the kind review and we hope to see you in the near future.

We stayed here for 6 nights at the end of September for a wedding. Everything was wonderful. I cannot think of 1 complaint. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant. Convenient for shopping, restaurants, and John Wayne Airport. Breakfast was fine-it was the same pretty much every morning-but I was happy to have someone else making my breakfast. Every request we had from housekeeping, front desk or kitchen employees was met with a smile. Next time we are in the area, we will be staying at the Ayres.

Room Tip: ask for a room looking at the canyon...the courtyard was beautiful, but the views from the outside r...

I recently moved from Rancho Santa Margarita and love coming to this hotel whenever I visit friends and family. I remember when this hotel was built less than 5 years ago so the rooms and facility are in great condition. I love sitting out in the courtyard and every morning there is a chef breakfast that includes made to order omelets. This facility shares the swimming pool with the Ayers suites directly beside it which I have equally enjoyed. I have yet to receive a massage but I have used the work out room and everything is clean and nice. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area and I will definitely be back!

Room Tip: I belive all these rooms are suites.

Been hearing a lot about the Ayres hotel brand, so decided to give it a try.

Check-in was a breeze with no issues. We got a room on the 3rd floor, which was a handicap room. Bathtub had some extra bars and the closet rack was lower.

After some research found out this hotel was available on Priceline's name your own price. Booked it and got a rate that was about half of the asking rate on the hotel's website, which despite what hotels tell you (I've heard it all and don't believe any of it), is why you are given these types of rooms. It's to be expected. You're getting a room that will other wise go unsold and at half the price -- it's only logical. For those who complain about this, you're paying half price for a room, get over it.

The morning breakfast was good. A little chaotic with so many in a small area, but the food was good and choices abundant. Did hear people saying the orange juice was a little too watery, though.

Like other reviewers have said, the room was clean and you have to enter your key card as you enter into a slot to turn on the lights. Everything, however, was clean and appeared well maintained.

The swimming pool is across the parking lot from the hotel, but we didn't find this to be much of an issue.

Internet was free and speeds were constantly fast.

Sunday morning the General Manager, Didi Shields, was out assisting with breakfast. We wanted to sit outside in the hotel's courtyard, our hands full. She insisted on taking our plates so could open the door. A nice gesture that didn't go unnoticed.

The only thing I did overhear from various guests was how nice a bellman would be. These guests loading their bags on to bell carts wanted some assistance.

We'd go back.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the 3rd floor. If you get a room via Priceline, Hotwire, etc...be okay with a...
