This is the first time I visited to L.A. I think the environment around the Hotel is enjoyable. The service is good and the room is cleanly. The breakfast at the dining hall is delicious. I really like Ayres hotel. If I have another chance to visit LA, I will definitely live here again.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

The hotel was comfortable, affordable and clean, with spacious, pleasingly decorated guest rooms, and very friendly staff who responded quickly to every request. I purchased my room through Hotwire so my rate was incredibly low -- about half of the hotel's lowest published rate -- so I can't complain! However, I was disappointed in some of my expectations. First of all, the hotel is FAR away from John Wayne airport, and there is NO SHUTTLE, so you'll have to pay for a cab to get here. Second, there is no real bar or cocktail lounge (although you can get a drink) and the restaurant is basic, basic, basic! Burgers and fries dominate the menu, and their signature salad is a WEDGE of lettuce! Plus, the restaurant /bar closes at 9:30, so no enjoying a nightcap and snack if your plane gets in at 10 pm. Finally, the outdoor pool is a long walk away, across a parking lot. But, if you don't care about swimming or shuttle service, and if you plan to eat and drink away from the hotel, it's a pleasant and affordable choice.

Dear Patience M.,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a candid review on TripAdvisor to let others know about your recent experience at our hotel. Please accept our heartfelt apologies if you felt inconvenienced at all by the distance from the airport. Typically guests find our location a nice secluded getaway from the hectic airport area; we are truly sorry if you did not feel the same. Our deepest apologies if the hotel restaurant schedule did not satisfy your wants and needs, we more than strive to make every one of our guest's experiences as exceptional as possible and are devastated to see that we did not succeed in that goal with your stay. We will most definitely take your comments into consideration and thank you for your honesty. We do hope you will come stay with us another time in the near future and thank you again.

We came down for our daughter's wedding and stayed for 5 nights. The accommodations were great. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helped all of the wedding party guest ((approx 50). The best surprise was the continental breakfast, a great meal with a complete variety of entrees. To sum it up a wonder stay.

We were here for a marriage retreat with our church. The rooms were large, and very nice and clean, but the overall amenities are kind of lacking. If you want to access the pool and jacuzzi, you have to walk all the way across a large parking lot to the Ayres hotel across the way. And it was super cold outside at night, so we would have froze to death walking back. Not to mention a large and very drunk wedding party had taken over the jacuzzi, so we passed.
The prices at the spa are crazy high, and no spa services discount was offered to our large group for staying there, which is a suggestion I would make.
The free breakfast bar is nice, but good, not great. A little more variety would be nice, and bacon instead of sausage would be nice.
For a "spa" place, I would say the ambience is a bit lacking. One small firepit outside was cool, but every time we walked by, it was full. A few more in the courtyard would be neat.
We had a nice time there, but would not pick it as a place to stay if we were looking on our own, and it has not been preselected for the conference.

Room Tip: Make sure you request an upstairs room. If you have a room overhead, it can sound like people are s...

The room was beautiful and well appointed. We didn't find the beds all that comfortable but the problem is with the service. On two occasions we couldn't get the key to work to our room and went down to the front desk twice each time to get it fixed. Very frustrating after a long day of activity not to get into your room and then not be receive friendly service or even an apology when it happened. The first time it happened on check-in they gave me a different room and did it with a smile, the second time I finally got into the room but I was putting the night kid out by trying to get into my room.

This hotel has all the potential to be a GREAT property. When you walk into the lobby, you are greeted warmly with a fire, pleasant aromas from scented candles and a great staff.

The rooms are really spacious with refrigerators, microwaves (never use 'em!), two TV's, sitting areas, desks with internet.

My challenge with the property are picky, but they mean something to someone that is going to be traveling and needs to be able to work.

The chairs at the desk are too low, and they will not raise up. It is just awkward to sit here and write the review.

The second factor is the internet. It is fast but spotty. Last night, it completely went down to the slowest crawl and would not even load up the websites. It was like being a kid again on my 300 baud modem. :)

Other than those two things, this hotel has everything to be GREAT!
