“Fun little panini lunch spot ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

If you want a large selection of wines by the glass you will be disappointed here. But what they do pour is good, interesting and not the standard fluff. The by the bottle list is fine, about two pages, and interesting.

I mention this up front because they bill themselves as a wine bar.

Food-wise, panini is the only word you need to know. A selection of good sounding hot and cold ones leaves you wanting to try more than you can in one visit. We had the tuna salad and it was very good.

Dessert-wise I don't get why other reviews highlight the chocolate panini. We found it dull and overhyped. (Mediocre) Chocolate melted on toasted bread with a bowl of whipped cream...

This is a nice lunch spot but I'd skip for dinner If I wanted something more than a panini.

“Chi Chi but hard to drive to”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2013 via mobile

Very nice lunch menu in a very chi chi place. The panini sandwiches we had were fresh and tasty. Combined with a glass of wine from their fairly extensive wine list, you have a nice relaxing lunch spot. They are in a part of Modesto where the streets are crazy. With a GPS you have a reasonable chance of reaching it on the first try.

By the way, in spite of the hype, save room for sharing the chocolate panini for dessert. It's pretty darn delicious.

Also, the old Yosemite park memorabilia is neat. Cheers!

“Fun twist on wine cafe”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2013

Great little informal wine bar with a well-selected but limited food menu. Excellent wine list with interesting flights and good wines by the glass. They keep the food focused so you can have a lunch or light dinner while enjoying and conversing about the wines. Staff are knowledgeable and will engage in discussion of the wines if you wish.

“Delicious paninis and wonderful service!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2013

We were driving through from Sonoma to Yosemite and decided to stop in Modesto for dinner. We are quite lucky to have found this place on Yelp (top rated on Yelp, why not on Tripadvisor?? :-) ). They have indoor and outdoor seating, high ceiling but a warm, intimate feel. The wine list was amazing considering we just left wine country! Our server was also familiar with the wine list and was able to assist us in choosing the best wine to pair with our meals. The paninis were perfectly cooked with delicious fresh bread and wonderfully paired ingredients inside. The sides are a choice of 2 different salads which were both tasty and better than having boring french fries. We had the chocolate panini for dessert and it was amazing - save room for it, it's well worth it!

“Great food, wine and atmosphere.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013 via mobile

I really enjoy the great food, wine, atmosphere and service at Camp 4. The wine flights are really fun. The servers are really knowledgable about the different wines and what food to pair it with. I can go to Camp 4 dressed up or very casual. Pretty much making it an all around great "go to" restaurant after work or out with friends. Don't miss the chocolate panini dessert, just order it!
