This is a family run small shop with seating capacity for 35 or 36. There is only one cook, the owner. The wife and sometimes the daughter will be the waitresses, although they do employ non family ladies for that also.

But the food is what makes it great. Udon, Donburi (rice bowls), Hot Pots and grilled items and Tempura are all on the menu. The seasonings and cooking style are Japanese, not someone using a recipe book. The family closes the shop and takes a two week vacation to Japan each year.

Everything on the menu is prepared well, but that does not mean that you will like everything. My mother loves Saba Shioyaki (mackerel grilled with salt) but I do not like the strong, fishy flavor of mackerel. I personally do not order anything Saba here.

Lunch is a bargain. They are only open Wednesday through Friday for lunch. A Bento Lunch comes with Set A - Tempura and California Roll plus one choice from a list of 6 items - Set B - Tempura plus either Sesame Chicken or Peanut Chicken AND either Beef Teriyaki or Oriental Beef. They even offer a Curry plate. Now Japanese style Curry is a Western style curry adapted from the British Navy of the late 1800's. It is extremely popular in Japan. It is very different from any of the Indian Curries - so do not expect that flavor.

Everytime we dine at this restaurant, we are served the finest Japanese cuisine.
This visit, the chicken teriyaki was served hot, with a perfect teriyaki sauce. The order is available in dark or light meat. The dark meat tasted outstanding. The meal was served with miso soup, a cabbage salad with delicious homemade dressing, tempura vegetables and steamed rice. Green tea is served on request. Japanese beers and other drinks are also available.

My companion had udon. The udon had shrimp tempura, vegetables and noodles. Numerous variations are available. All of the ingredients are fresh and of excellent quality.

This is a family owned restaurant. The husband is the primary chef. His wife and two lovely daughters are the servers. They are very pleasant and efficient. The meal was served in about 10 minutes after the order. The restaurant is kept immaculately clean.

There are a limited number of tables, but there is rarely a wait for a table except on Friday and Saturday night. Because the service is so efficient, a wait of more than 10 minutes for a table is rare.

Rather than stop at a fast food restaurant, this restaurant is a good substitute, with good quality fare. The amount of time to dine is not much longer than fast food. If you have never tried Japanese food, this is a good place to start because the entire menu is very good. Over a period of 15 years, we have tried nearly every dish and have never been disappointed.

The restaurant is about 5 minutes east of freeway 99. Take the Kiernan Avenue exit and drive east to the signal at Tully Road, The restaurant is located in the shopping center (Frontier Village) on the northwestern corner, behind Mr. T's donut shop.

Meals cost $9-18 for dinner, open Tuesday-Sunday 5-9PM. Lunch specials may cost less, open about 11:30AM-2PM, Wednesday-Friday.

Having eaten here for years, my wife and I continue to be served excellent food every visit. We have ordered a large percentage of the menu items and have gone home happy after every visit. The restaurant is Japanese owned and operated, so the cuisine is authentic Japanese.
Many the dishes are served with large portions, so we often take home enough food for a second meal. This restaurant serves great value for the price.
Our favorite dishes are the Peanut Chicken and Teriyaki chicken. The Shrimp Tempura is served very hot and delicious. If you order a combination plate, you can sample two main courses! Different menu items are periodically added.
The service is very efficient. Arrival, ordering, and eating can usually be completed within 45 minutes. The restaurant has a nice, modest decor. It is small and intimate, family operated.
There usually is no wait for a table because the local economy is very slow.
The hours of operation are limited. Lunch is usually served Wednesday to Friday from 11:30-2 and dinner from 5-9PM, closed Monday. Free parking.

My husband & I have been coming here for many years, possibly before we even moved here (which was 16 years ago). Always great service & great food. We're big fans of the peanut chicken, tempura and chicken teriyaki. Their salad dressing is pretty snacking too. The only reason we haven't been here for a while is because they're not open weekend afternoons and they are a little out of the way, for where we live.

Excellent family-style Japanese food. The atmosphere is very quaint; not fancy but very clean and the food is always fresh. We have enjoyed a meal here at least once a month for the past 22 years. The owners are so pleasant and accommodating. Best Miso soup I've ever eaten!
