This is a family run small shop with seating capacity for 35 or 36. There is only one cook, the owner. The wife and sometimes the daughter will be the waitresses, although they do employ non family ladies for that also.
But the food is what makes it great. Udon, Donburi (rice bowls), Hot Pots and grilled items and Tempura are all on the menu. The seasonings and cooking style are Japanese, not someone using a recipe book. The family closes the shop and takes a two week vacation to Japan each year.
Everything on the menu is prepared well, but that does not mean that you will like everything. My mother loves Saba Shioyaki (mackerel grilled with salt) but I do not like the strong, fishy flavor of mackerel. I personally do not order anything Saba here.
Lunch is a bargain. They are only open Wednesday through Friday for lunch. A Bento Lunch comes with Set A - Tempura and California Roll plus one choice from a list of 6 items - Set B - Tempura plus either Sesame Chicken or Peanut Chicken AND either Beef Teriyaki or Oriental Beef. They even offer a Curry plate. Now Japanese style Curry is a Western style curry adapted from the British Navy of the late 1800's. It is extremely popular in Japan. It is very different from any of the Indian Curries - so do not expect that flavor.
