Stopped here on a Sunday on our way back from Las Vegas and was pleasantly surprised.
My wife and I had an early lunch/dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed our stop. The cafe, with it's neat collection of old pedal cars (our favorite was the jeep) was spotless, cozy and inviting. We were warmly greeted and directed to a comfortable booth.
Since it was a Sunday, the special was a roast turkey platter, which we ordered with an onion ring appetizer.
The onion rings were large, freshly made, and perfectly coated. Served with a ranch dressing, they were an instant hit.
The turkey plate that followed was also delicious. It most definitely was NOT your standard hot turkey plate: (Deli slices of turkey roll, canned gravy and mashed potatoes from a box, served over stale bread or package dressing)
This consisted of freshly carved roasted whole turkey (no turkey roll or deli-style slices here) over a generous portion of dressing, and home-made mashed potatoes that never saw a flake or box, covered in a mouth-watering turkey gravy that was seasoned just right.
Standard accompaniments of cranberry sauce and steamed vegetables. Also served with a generous slice of fresh cornbread.
A very generous and delicious meal at a reasonable price made an impromptu meal stop a very pleasant experience. We heartily recommend Mike's for the hungry traveler.
