Village Inn & Restaurant

We spent a long weekend at the Village Inn and would recommend it to anyone who would like to experience a beautiful setting along the Russian River. Our innkeepers, Cathy and Mark, were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Nice continental breakfast each morning. We stayed in Room D and enjoyed our river view, open and airy windows, and patio. Comfortable and relaxing weekend! Close to all but not in the busy hub of things.

Room Tip: Room D had a wall of windows, patio. Friends stayed in rm g below us and that room was a bit larger...

My wife and I have a summer home in Monte Rio. We live near Houston where there are great restaurants. We were introduced to Village Inn and the proprietor Mark through friends. We have consistently had great service and great food at a reasonable price. Full bar, great entrees, great service (Thank You Lana).

Recently for our twenty second wedding anniversary I decided to skip Village Inn and went to Applewood. Great service but the food was just fair and they have no bar. (We are martini drinkers). When we finished, we both looked at each other and said lets go get dessert and martini's with Mark. Needless to say when we sat down at the cozy bar, I had to confess our sins to Mark and to tell him it was our anniversary. He comped the martini's and the desert (which was fantastic) for our anniversary and sent fresh whipped cream home with us. What a guy.

You cannot go wrong at Village Inn. Inside dinning, outside dinning, and views overlooking the Russian River, as well as Amanda in the kitchen. And if you’re lucky you can get Lana for service. She can tell you where the rear of the cow comes from.

These days it's difficult to find a dinner spot which is neither a production line chain or a five star budget-breaker. The Village Inn offers a well prepared, beautifully presented menu served by the most pleasant of waitstaffs and at a price which won't max-out your platinum card. This, plus the charm of a historic inn overlooking the Russian River and beneath towering redwoods. Whether you dine in the main room, the cozy bar or on the deck, the atmosphere is casual and welcoming.

We have dined at the Village Inn on more than one occasion and found the quality of both our meal and service to be consistently excellent. The menu includes a sizable list of regular offerings, but there are always two specials of the night from which to choose. The clientele tends to be locals who know they will enjoy a fine meal and return again and again. Being just off the beaten track, there are few drop-ins, but word of mouth keeps the Village Inn busy; especially so on summer weekends. We look forward to returning soon.

Right on the Russian River full of birds and fish, stayed three days with great attentiveness by the staff. Recent flooding had wiped out cable TV but dozens of movies were free for the asking. No comment on food as we were there during a "vacation week" just after Jan 1, but a continental breakfast was served in our room. Various electric heaters worked fine, the balcony was a lovely way to view the river, and hiking around the area proved interesting. Do not expect the newest and most up-to-date at the Inn, rather plan on being part of the process providing the guest with a fine place to stay.

Room Tip: Room "G" is the best of the crop with in bedside view of the River -- could try asking fo...

When my wife and I arrived at the Village Inn we weren't too sure what to expect as it was dark and we did not expect neon lights to greet us. Stepping into the reception area, the Inn appeared a bit dated and my concern about our stay started to increase.
It was right at this point however, that the charm of the Inn, the area as well as the staff and owner Mark took over. The rooms are small and the shower even smaller but the bed and pillows are the best sleeping you will find anywhere.
The staff is so friendly and helpful that you cannot help but feel like family.
The area surrounding the Inn is breathtaking and begs to be explored.
The menu is simple but the food is expertly prepared.
The wine list is superb stocked with local wines.
Mark the owner is a gracious host.
Enjoy.

We attended a wedding in Monte Rio and stayed across the river at the Village Inn. The rooms are cozy and well kept. The grounds peaceful and beautiful. The innkeepers attentive. We look forward to a reason to return to Monte Rio and another stay at the Village Inn.

Room Tip: The corner room has a nice river view and balcony.

We stumbled onto this enchanting inn and had a wonderful experience. The rooms, gardens, and entire property is absolutely charming, obviously decorated and cared for with a loving touch. Beautiful gardens, comfortable rooms, warm and friendly innkeepers, giant redwoods right outside our window, cozy nook for continental breakfast, what more could you ask?

We had planned to camp that night, but tent and clothes were wet from an all day rain. All we needed was a room, and instead, we found an experience that was a highlight of our trip.
