Owner description: Located at the ocean's edge, the Monterey Bay Aquarium is a window to marine life -- for dive masters and non-swimmers alike. It's home to sea otters, penguins, sharks, jellies and thousands of other marine animals and plants. Its mission is to inspire conservation of the oceans.

Order tickets on line, one way the bypass the long line of day ticketers. Very helpful volunteers all over the place, was crowded which makes it hard for the activities to be seen, every time a feeding took place it was packed. You can see almost all the activities if you plan it right. Lunchtime is packed, get a stamp and go to Tico-Tacos for a quick lunch before returning to finish up the day. Our 8 and 10 y old had a good time, was hard to drag them out

Family spent 5 hours here. My teenage kids were engaged, which is rare these days. Exhibits and animals were all presented in a caring and informative way. We came away with knowledge about our eco systems and our oceans that we did not have going in. Really enjoyed the seafood cards they handed out for maintaining a sustainable seafood population.

This is a really nice Aquarium, I go often.
I like the sea otters, Penguins and the Jelly fish displays.
The entrance fee is a bit steep, but I think it is worth it.
Make sure you have plenty of time so you can see all of it.
It will take a few hours.
They have a snack bar, gift shops, guided tours you can arrange and it is handicapped accessible.
They also have lectures you can attend at different times, be sure to get the map they hand out.
It is on Cannery Row, there are quite a few restaurants and gift shops.

We recently went here but had no choice but to go on a Sunday afternoon. The aquarium is very interesting and well laid out and divided into sections so that you can see what lives in different areas of the ocean viewing each area one at a time. There are many places where you can go "hands on" if you would like to hold or touch creatures from the ocean. There are many staff members both behind the counters and walking around in front of the exhibits that are anxious to answer questions. Our only complaint was that there were so many people on this day that we would have to wait for a group to move away from a display before we would be able to get close enough to see what was inside. We would recommend going on a week day if possible and definitely buy your tickets online before you go and you will save yourself a 30 to 45 minute wait in line to buy your tickets.

Arrived at 9:00 for a 9:30 opening. Line to buy tickets was all ready to the end of block. Ticketing went fast. No discounts except senior (65+) or students. No affiliations with other aquariums either. About half the aquarium is actual exhibits while the rest is educational experiences or shops. Aquarium was nice. Tip: buy tickets in advance if possible & arrive at least 30 mins before opening. As the day goes on, so does the line. When we left 90 mins later the line was very long.
