From the moment you walk into the house you can't help but notice the quirky little bits and pieces that make this house stand-out. From the backward clocks, rust sculptures and quaint rooms it really is a fabulous house. After a long day driving we loved to be welcomed by glasses of wine and nibbles, and the welcome was warm. Is a short stumble to the restuarants of Cannery Row (with dozens of places to eat) and only a couple of minutes to the aquarium. We stayed in the Mimsy room right at the top, which gave us a view of the sea and we kept the curtains open at night to be awoken by the fantastic sunrise in the morning!

My girlfriend and I stayed in this great inn while we were touring the US. Great decor, complimentary wine, snacks, beverages, brandy (in the room), internet, all you would wish for. It is the attention to detail that really counts, they had the menus of all local restaurants on file, which made selecting a restaurant for the evening very relaxed and nearly risk free.

The breakfast was very original, but of the typical American size (massive). We couldn’t event finish half of it.

Regardless, it was a shame we only stayed for the night as we were driving down to LA. The owners advised us to drive the ’17 mile drive’, which was a great idea as it is the home of the famous Pebble Beach golf course.

We stayed at the Jabberwock Inn in November 2006 and absolutely loved our stay there. The inn was adorable, with a comfortable sitting room that was open to guests. The entire inn featured many Lewis Carrol-related trinkets, as could be expected from the inn's name.

We stayed in the Toves room, which was fabulous. It had an incredibly comfortable Sleep Number king-sized mattress, with the ability to set each side of the bed at a different level of firmness. (We are very picky about our beds, and we thrilled with the one in our room.) We also had a large Jacuzzi tub in the room. I find that often when hotels advertise a Jacuzzi tub it ends up being a standard-sized tub with a few water jets built-in. This was the real deal--a two-person tub and really quite large.

The room also had a small table in a tiny garden outside of the room, which was nice for sitting and eating dessert we had purchased at a restaurant and brought back with us.

The location of the hotel is wonderful--you can walk right to downtown Monterey and the aquarium. If we are ever in the area again, I would stay here without hesitation.

My new husband and I spent 4 nights of our honeymoon at this cozy B&B on the Monterey Peninsula. This was our first stay at a B&B, and we found the intimacy and pampering to be just right for our purposes.
Our room, the Mome Rath, had a small window with an ocean view, so every morning we could rise and look at the fog rolling out. The room also has a fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub for two, plus an extremely comfortable king-size bed.
The garden is beautiful with lots of places to tuck yourself away with a book or your sweetie. The April evenings were a little too cold to indulge, but I'd bet in the summertime it would be hard to pass up the opportunity!
The breakfasts were delicious! We left the B&B every day well-fed and ready to take on anything. The location is perfect for walking to the Cannery Row area and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Our innkeepers, Dawn and John, also provided us with Aquarium tickets that allowed us two days' entrance for the price of one day. We didn't think we would take advantage of the second day, but we ended up back there to see what we missed the day before.
Guests are encouraged to return to the inn for sherry & snacks before dinner, and it was a wonderful opportunity to unwind. Dawn and John keep a selection of menus from the myriad of near-by restaurants, so we were able to decide easily where we would go for dinner. Lots of good choices for seafood!
We also got a great deal, taking advantage of a mid-week special that gave us 4 nights for the price of 3.
The Jabberwock Inn set a pretty high standard for any future B&B experiences. We are very eager to return for an anniversary celebration!

Great B&B! Excellent breakfast, great hors douvers and wine in the evening. Cookies and fruit out all day. Great theme rooms. And our innkeepers are totally service oriented. Really loved staying here.

My wife and I stayed at the Jabberwock Inn for 6 days in April 2008. Our hope was to find a place that would be a home away from home and the Jabberwock Inn met and greatly exceeded all of our expectations! We want to thank John and Dawn for an incredible stay and visit to Monterey.

We stayed in the Tulgey Woods room which is the only room that doesn't have a bathroom in the room but the private bathroom down the hallway was fine. The room itself was a bit small but it had a great view of Monterey Bay and frankly, we didn't spend all that much time in the room but instead, enjoyed relaxing in other parts of the house. The room had a select comfort bed and while it was cozy, it was very comfortable. There was brandy in the room but we never did partake of it.

The house is decorated beautifully though I had a hard time getting used to the clocks (which were all backwards following the Alice in Wonderland theme). :) We loved sitting next to the fire place with our glass of wine and a book or magazine in hand. The porch that served as the area for wine and appetizers had a great view of the property gardens and Monterey Bay. There are plenty of magazines and books in the main living area as well as near the Toves room for those that like to relax with a good book.

The breakfast at the Jabberwock Inn were simply fantastic! We really enjoyed the fresh fruit and the main breakfast dish each morning. We really looked forward to breakfast, not just for the great food, but for the enjoyable conversation with the other guest staying at the inn.

We met some very interesting people and that is exactly why we chose to stay here instead of at a hotel in Monterey. We really wanted a different experience by getting a chance to meet new people. John is a jokester and made us laugh often and Dawn is about as sweet a person and can be. My wife and I commented that if we lived in Monterey, John and Dawn would be close friends. They really know how to treat people well and they made the right decision to get into the B&B business. We hope they will be running the Jabberwock Inn for a very long time!

We have lived in Monterey and traveled to Monterey often and this visit ranks a the top. We thought we had visited some of the finer restaurants in the area but John and Dawn pointed out some we had never visited and they were spot on in making great recommendations. And if you needed a reservation, Dawn was on the phone instantly setting them up for you. They have menus from practically any restaurant worth visiting so make sure to get their input on the fine dining of Monterey.

The Jabberwock Inn is just 4 or 5 blocks from Cannery Row and walking distance to the Old Fisherman's Wharf and the historical downtown area. Great location and great views of the bay. There is a lot to do within walking distance of the Jabberwock Inn but you'll need a car to visit such beautiful areas such as 17 mile Drive, Carmel, Point Lobos and Big Sur.

We make a yearly trek to Monterey (got married there back in 1981) and we have found our home away from home. We can't wait to return to Monterey and another stay at the Jabberwock Inn! We highly recommend the Jabberwock Inn for a relaxing, comfortable experience!

We recently spent 3 nights at The Jabberwock and had a fabulous time. We would echo all of the positive reviews here. Everything was wonderful: the location of the inn, the hosts, the rooms, the breakfast, the daily wine and hors d'oeuvres, the gardens, the beds, the snacks...I could go on and on. We only wished we had stayed here at the end of our vacation instead of at the beginning because everywhere else we stayed was a let down after the tremendous experience we had at The Jabberwock!
