“sooo nice!”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

we stayed here for one night before our whale-watching-trip on the next morning. it is very cosy and not average. you are invited on a glass of wine on the beautiful roof-terrace. the breakfast was self-made by the hosts an it was no problem to have it a little earlier than 8am (we had to leave in time to not miss our boat-trip) bathrooms are freshly renovated and spacious. (jacuzzi!!!) only thing is, that the hotel is close to the street, so that it´s not possible to sleep with the window open. but also close to the harbor, so that you will have a good place to start visiting monterey. we also had a nice talk to the host an felt very welcome!

This hotel was like a hidden gem!!! We were greeted by the lovely Nashua who made us feel like we were coming to visit a friend. The room was very stylish and the bed was amazing( I had the best sleep of my trip) Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had.
We would of happily stayed there a few more nights but we were on a west coast road trip so had to leave. We will def stay at this hotel again.

Like staying in a "European" place, if by Europe you mean a tiny backward town in Albania.

Decor is tacky and cheap. Furniture is old and worn in real life, cheaply made, like it's picked by drunk Liberace on a meager budget. Carpet is worn and mismatched. Elevator never worked the entire two days we were there. Rooftop deck is a joke. Paints are peeling, and there are spiders everywhere.

Room is minuscule. Bed is too. Overlooks ugly broken dirty rooftops. Door slams noisily. Lights are broken. No hot water. On a super busy street. Four parking spots, one disabled, one taken by the owner. Street parking is faaar.

Service is horrible. Printer didn't work, they couldn't find you both during check in and check out.... Bacon smells nice when you wake up but it is leathery, greasy, and in the tiny cramped space, the greasy smell lingers on your clothes and hair all day. It's endless. If you have started at professionally managed hotel, this is the opposite.

Do yourself a favor. Whether you stay at a b&b, a motel six or the high end luxury inn, you'll find better value and service elsewhere for your money.

The hotel is relaxed and informal and seems family run. The staff are super friendly and in the evenings run happy hour with complimentary first drink and refreshments.

We were using this hotel as a one night stop over. The room was basic and in need of some renovation. Our room was on the ground floor so as a result when we opened our bedroom window for air we had the main road outside (no air con). The bed was very comfy though and we slept well.

The breakfasts at the hotel are superb. Couldn't fault it. Location wise it's about 10 mins drive from the main area and we dined out at a great fish restaurant, Passionfish. Monterey is a great for spotting Sealions.

Although it doesn't look much from the outside this is a hidden gem.
Beautiful decor, such a homely feel and the owner is so lovely and caring it's like having a mum around.
The bed and pillows are luxurious and the roof top terrace is amazing - heaters and a gas fire pit for warmth on chilly nights.
Complimentary glass of wine each night (and the wine is very nice) with nibbles on the bar is a lovely touch.
Breakfast is amazing.
15 min walk beachside to fisherman's wharf and the silly sea lions ... Very cheeky!
Please come and see for yourselves you won't regret it!!!
I am still here as I write this, we leave tomorrow for more adventures I feel sad to go but glad I found this beauty!
Thank you so much for your amazing hospitality x

A highlight of our one night stay was the complementary wine and cheese in the evening! We had a most enjoyable time chatting to fellow guests. Lance was a great host serving the drinks, and the cheese and nibbles went down a treat. The room was quite small, but comfortable and clean if a bit on the warm side and away from any noise. Breakfast was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.

The place was easy to find, directly on the main road into the village. The hotel looks shabby from outside but is very nicely renovated inside and the hosts are very open and friendly. Rooms are clean and have heaters for cold days. The roof top terrace is very spacious with different seating options. Also here, warming lamps are installed for windier and colder days. The view over the Atlantic is fantastic.
