“Seals, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Birds, Whales and More”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

Spend 7 days exploring the Monterey Bay area. So much to see and do. Went whale watching, spent a day at the aquarium, diving for 3 days. I'll be back to enjoy more of this beautiful place.

“Beautiful surroundings but breezy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

You cannot travel to California without visiting certain areas and this is one of them and if you start your journey in Monterey (or Carmel) you can actually enjoy the fantastic view and the shore all the way to Carmel and to me these places are connected through the beautiful beach and nature but of course downtown Monterey is so very different from downtown (village) Carmel and you cannot compare these two places. Monterey is more like a common US city with varying standards but with the difference of the very lively wharf and area arround the aquarium (Cannary Row) which can be very busy and almost impossible to find a parking lot.

“Experience fab wildlife and restored canning factories.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

What a place to see seals, sea otters, pigeon guillemots etc. right from the main pier next to the aquarium. Do make time to walk slightly out of town, on the other side of the aquarium, where you will find a lovely sandy bay, which was roped off as there were several seals and their young pups on the beach. Great views of them, but yet they are protected. The town too is fascinating and the restorations sympathetically carried out. Don't forget John Steinbeck books about this area..

“Child Traffic Heavy, Not So Great for Adults”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

I had fond memories of the Aquarium from childhood but as an adult it was disappointing. We went mid-week and the crowd was spectacular making it loud, difficult to maneuver, and difficult to get a decent look at the sea life. There were also children running about everywhere underfoot.
Recommended for families with small children (I know I loved it as a kid), but not for adults with an interest in a pleasant evening gazing at the wonders of the sea
