A no frill clean and safe room in what can be an expensive town. Nice little pool outside. Parking spaces small and difficult to negotiate even for a good driver. Had no need to ask for service other than checking in and out.

The hotel was very loud. Every footstep from the above room made the our room shake. You could also hear the bed from above creak. Our room was at the bottom of a steep, dark staircase. At one point, there was a guy standing at the top of the staircase asking where to find a pay phone. Given the location of the staircase, and the odd request (no one uses pay phones especially if you can afford to stay in a pricey hotel),it did not make us feel safe. I mentioned the problems to the staff but they did not seem to care aside from a cursory apology.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor if you want to sleep.

My husband booked a Valentine's Day Special that we had to postpone due the East Coast snow storm. They hotel rescheduled our stay for a later date with no issues. Hotel was very nice inside and out. Free Parking a huge plus! Convenient location within a short distance walk to Fishermans Wharf and drive to Cannery Row. Our room was very clean and cozy. Loved the fireplace and open balcony. Unfortunately our room was located next to the housekeeping and all we heard was their door opening and closing constantly. We had a issue with staff coming into our room twice. Just walked right in as we were sitting there! No knock! They were delivering our fruit basket and the second time wine. Good thing they came baring gifts!!! Overall our stay was very nice with a few exceptions!

Room Tip: Request room away from housekeeping location.

Lovely well appointed rooms which were extremely clean. Good location, fairly quiet. Would happily stay again. Walking distance to some restaurants & a great French pastry shop. Service was ok but not outstanding.

We booked online, sight unseen. we drove there and found the location easily. On arrival we found that our room was a bit dark and close to stairs and laundry. Dont go for their cheapest rooms unless you are just there to sleep !.
I talked with reception and they kindly upgraded us to a better room at no charge. The font of house person would not take a tip for the service even though I offered afterwards.
This room was excellent, roomy and light.
Each evening they have a happy hour with cheaper drinks from 4:30 - 6pm...good value.

We ate breakfast there each day. While I prefer breakfast buffet for better value, theirs was still good food and reasonable value. Waiting staff were professional and attentive.

One negative of the stay was the fettucine that I ordered for dinner on one evening. While tasty, the sauce had separated and there was a pool of melted butter floating there... a pity. Frankly it should have been redone !.

It does also intrigue me though in the US that you always have to ask for tea in your room as obviously it is not used much by the 'locals'.

Very good hotel option in easy walking distance from downtown and pier.

Room Tip: Dont get rooms on Level one...its actually below carpark level and rather dark.

We stayed in the Hotel Abrego for two nights. We were given a room on the first floor in the building behind the reception which we found a little dark and also was difficult to find, it looked like you had to enter a fire exit to access the buiding which was a little strange. The room itself was clean and average size. We didn't eat in the hotel so we can't comment on the standard of the food. This hotel is about a 30 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf and you will need to drive or get a cab to Cannery Row.There is a free trolly bus nearby which brings you (eventually) to Cannery Row but it stops operarting at 9pm.We had difficulty getting a cab from Cannery Row back to the hotel.Overall the hotel was clean but very average.

Modern and nice looking smaller hotel with excellent service and food service. Close to downtown Monterey and local attractions. If you are a member of NCGA, they have a great rate. Nice meeting room for groups.

Room Tip: If you are a member of NCGA, they have a special rate.
