“Monterrey & Carmel Tour”

Monterey-Carmel Spanish History Tour
Reviewed 19 July 2013

Tower Tours has the best bus tour of these beautiful cities. The trip is a day trip, but worth every minute. Our guide/drive - Wolfgang Kwanzakhaaikkiiamin was great. He gave us the history and the current events that were happening in each town. We had time off the bus to walk the streets of Monterrey, spend time walking along the coast, visit little shops as well as have a light lunch. We later had time for cocktails and appetizers in Carmel. For all the golfers we stopped at Pebble Beach Golf Culb to take in the panoramic views. Our guide was not only full of interesting facts but had a wonderful sense of humor. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

My wife and I took this tour in 2010 (I had to select june 2011 in the drop down list as that was the earliest option). I know, it took me a while to write this review :-) I have lived in the san francisco bay area for more than 5 years and in California for more than 10. But I had little knowledge about California's early history. This tour gave me so much information and was so much fun, that I still remember it well after two years. When Todd described the history of the Spanish explorers and settlers, and showed us the locations where the important events took place, history did indeed come alive (as another reviewer put it) in fornt of our eyes. I had no idea that Monterey was such an important place in early california history. There is lots to see and lots to know. Since Todd drives you around, you do not have to worry about directions or parking. Todd's wife was with him when we took the tour. Both were very nice and patient with us even though we were a bit late.

I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Monterey. There is one suggestion I would like to make. There is so much to see that 3 hours might not be enough to see it all. The tour ends at the Mission and we spent less time there than we would have liked, because our time was up. If there could be an option for the tourists to stay on at the Mission (by themselves) after the 3 hours are over, that would be great. I am sure Todd knows the taxi cab companies in town, and he could arrange a cab to pick up the tourists after the they are done. Of course, the tourists would pay for the cab. We would have loved to have that option. Besides that, this was one of the best tours I have ever taken.

My daughter is a Calif. 4th grader, and she's been assigned the Carmel Mission for the required missions project, so we took a trip to the Monterey area to prepare for it. We took Todd Cook's Spanish History Tour, and it was FANTASTIC!!! You get A LOT of valuable information & insight in just 3 hours; it would be much more work & time-consuming on your own. Todd is very nice & knowledgeable and gives excellent customer service. My husband & I have been to Monterey many times (even got married in Carmel); this tour is a highlight there. Great value of time & money--HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I just recently been in a newly started Spanish history tour of Monterey and Carmel and I learned so much during the 3-hour minivan drive. The tour guide Todd Cook was very knowledgeable and made history come alive and so much fun. I definitely would recommend this tour to friends. Oh and it was also very affordable. Got a pretty good deal on this tour!
