“Sealions and HUGE Jelly Fish”

Walk out on the pier next to the coast guard base and you can see sea lions lying on the rocks of both sides of the pier. If the bull is not sleeping then he will be making lots of noise. There are also huge jelly fish floating in the water. There is good fishing from the end of the pier as well. Parking is a couple of dollars in the lot in front of the pier and credit cards are accepted.

We stumbled across this pier when we were taking an early morning walk on the recreation trail. We visited again the next day. Both times we saw lots of seals lounging on the rocks beside the peer. We also saw dolphins swimming in the bay and lots of jelly fish in the shallow water beside the pier.

You don't have to ask the way here just follow the noise of the sea lions. You can get quite close to the sea lions just peering over the fence on the pier. Really good place to take children.

Well worth the walk down the pier if you are into sea life - LOTS of noisy sea lions and some sea otters. Almost like Sea World.

Population of sea lions continues to grow along with their stench and barking. Excellent location to get up close to wild sea lions, though.
