Have just returned from a tour of California with a well known coach touring company, and this hotel was on our tour. one queen size bed with plenty pillows, firm and comfy, had blankets not duvet. bathroom had just shower not a bath. free breakfast was fine not to much choice as in two types of cereals but it is free. nice location we had a safe walk down Alvardos street with plenty restaurants on it.

We go to Monterey every year for a conference, and this was the best deal we have found. The hotel is clean and much nicer than other hotels in this (low) price range. They have an okay breakfast, which is rare at this price, good free wifi, and a good bed.

I enjoyed the half mile walk to the Conference Center (except for the day it rained :(), and if you want more for breakfast. there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back can be noisy because of early trash pickup.

This location is within walking distance to the major attractions. The staff is helpful and the rooms are clean. The breakfast room is welcoming and the food plenty.
The only problem was that the walls are very thin and you hear most noises.
I would stay here again.
Make sure you go to Trader Joe' s supermarket, within walking distance from the hotel, where you find very good and fresh food at a good price.

Would have got a 5* rating had it not been for the bins being emptied at about 4:30/5am in the monday morning. The "Eminem" look a like from the trash company was chucking and banging the trash cans around not caring that people were asleep. Hotel had a very close proximity to down town, free wifi and parking were a bonus.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October to visit Monterey area and we found this motel to be very convenient, relatively quiet for such an urban area, and a great rate on the weeknights ($59). We enjoyed the very comfortable pillowtop mattress on our king-sized bed. If you're reasonably fit, it is walking distance to downtown, numerous restaurants, and Fisherman's Wharf (maybe a mile each way), which saved us a ton of $$$ on parking. Breakfast consisted of the usual "continental" choices (i.e., nothing hot other than those awful waffles that they all have now), but room had a fridge and microwave so we could do our own thing. Towels were rather thin, and this was the only motel we've ever been to that only provided ONE hand towel each day for two people (???) Also, our room was equipped with too many motion-sensor light switches, one of which was connected to the outlet that we used for our computer (which we didn't realize until the computer battery died because the light had gone off) and another of which was in the bathroom, making that light come on unnecessarily and annoyingly during the night. But other than these relatively minor quibbles, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this motel to others traveling in the Monterey area.

The hotel is in a very good location. It is close to everything. Just make sure that the hotel does not lock you out of your room for no apparent reason.
