We had a great time on our honeymoon staying here this last week. We had a top floor room with a fireplace which was great when it got cold at night. Goodies and snacks with free coffee in the morning. Everything was real close walking distance to the Wharf and to the free trolley that takes you to Cannery Row. We did on the first day however awoke to some construction which was a little loud but overall we had a great time. Would definitely consider staying here again in Monterey!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room with a fireplace and away from the street.

We had a large double queen room on the third floor (there's an elevator) in the back corner. The room was unique for a motel in that it had floor to ceiling windows. The ones at the end of the room looked out on a grove of large, leafy trees. Very relaxing. The bed and pillows were comfortable and we slept well. It was very quiet. The desk staff (a woman in the afternoon and a man in the morning) were friendly and helpful. The Colton Inn is an easy walk to the waterfront and Cannery Row. It's also just a few minutes drive to Pebble Beach and the 17 Mile Drive. We enjoyed the one night we stayed and would definitely stay again.

We have been coming here for 14 years, and have always had a good experience. The hotel is away from the noisy center of town in a quiet neighborhood. Many rooms have fireplaces, and it appears to have been well maintained and steadily updated, so it doesn't look any worse for wear than it did 14 years ago. The front desk has a big selection of movies on DVD, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is basically continental, but includes some fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and a selection of bread, including whole-wheat. Rooms lack coffee makers, but have microwaves and fridges.

We stayed here last summer en route to San Francisco. The hotel itself is fairly basic and the reception area is small, which makes it a little tight when trying to grab breakfast. The breakfast consisted mainly of cereals , fruit and bagels , all of which were fresh. A nice touch were the home baked cookies and coffee available free of charge during the day. Our family room was spacious, with it's own fridge and the bathroom, though fairly small was clean and well stocked with towels and toiletries. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location is great ! Just a short walk to the Wharf and perhaps a 30 min stroll to cannery row. None of it uphill so easy walking. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance and the quality of the seafood is tremendous. The hotel provides free on site parking, both covered and uncovered which was great. Just a short drive to pebble beach.

Stayed for one night on Pacific Coast Highway trip. Was easy to find and in a good location only a few minutes walk from Main Street and wharf. Staff we're very friendly and helpful, the lady on reception told us where to avoid when eating. (There is no fitness centre or pool clicked icon by mistake)

Lovely clean room with nice balcony. The cookie on arrival was lovely, and staff very friendly and helpful. Bathroom a little dated. Plenty of eating places within walking distance. A great breakfast and lovely sunny deck to eat it on

Loved this little place within walking distance to fisherman's wharf and other top little restaurants. Very helpful and friendly reception with fresh baked cookies, great coffee, fruit and all sorts every time I went into reception area, very generous. Continental brekky was lovely with quality pastries etc and cereals. There were 5 of us including my wife and 3 children and we had a huge room with 3 x very comfy queen size beds. The price was unbeatable at about $150 per night. It is nothing flash but very nice and highly recommended for a few nights in this stunning little town. The Wharf seafood food was out of this world and best value.
