“Unforgettable Experience”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

My family and I stayed at the Red Roof Inn for the car races this past weekend. The customer service was excellent. The rooms smelled fresh and everything was really clean. The beds were really comfortable and my kids enjoyed the spacious room. Good healthy breakfast choices and very helpful staff. The manager Neil was very friendly and would always talk to us while we were eating breakfast in the lobby. Raki was also very friendly and would help us out in giving directions to the races since we were out of towners. All my questions were answered in great detail. I encourage everyone to stay at Red Roof Inn in Monterey, CA. Next time I come to Monterey, I will definitely stay at the Red Roof Inn. Great location with many stores and restaurants within walking distance.

Good location, nice staff, enjoyable breakfast...what else do you need. First of all people have to know that quality and price are directly proportional, so if you expect to pay $100 to $200 per room and want to get treated like a King/Queen then please stop dreaming and start living in reality...Monterey is a place with lot of happenings and this fact becomes the foundation for lot of Hotels/Motels to drill a hole in your pocket...On the night before the Ferrari World Race, I was offered a wonderful room for $160/night (very late in the night, all other motels asked for double the amount). These guys were genuine with their price (now again rates are based on happenings in the city). My stay was quite comfortable and I didn't have any issue. I will definitely recommend this place for a good stay.

We are on a 3 week road trip down the Californian coast and have chosen to spend our money in nice hotels in San Diego and L A. So when we booked the Red Roof in we were aware of what to expect, it is good value, rooms and bed are clean. But the rooms are dated, carpet has seen better days, paint peeling from ceiling and a hole in one of the internal doors. But non of this affected our stay, so if you want a pristine new motel that you have to pay a price for, this is not for you, if you want a good value motel then it is ok, would I stay here again, yes I would.

We stayed one night - April 12. I booked on Red Roof's web site and paid $217 plus taxes. For the price, I thought it would be quite a deluxe place with a great breakfast. It wasn't! Older two storey wood buildings. I asked the owner why the high price. He said the rates go up and down all the time and this rate was because it was spring break. They appear to base their rate on the Best Western down the street! The following weekend, our room was being offered for $99. In the off season, it is $40! For under $100, it would be an adequate motel. Above that, I'd suggest you shop around. On the plus side, it is far enough off the main roads to be quiet at night. Housekeeping was OK. On the negative, breakfast was minimalist and in the entranceway with only a few tables, so it was a grab and dash.

Room Tip: Back building has rooms with a fireplace and a deck or patio.

Dear Guest,

We kindly appreciate that you wanted to give your feedback based on your experience staying with us. Feedback from our guests lets us know where and when we can make certain improvements if needed at anytime. When you say that rates go up and down, you are absolutely correct because rates do fluctuate depending on seasons and local events. However, we never base our rates on the Best Western only. We look at other hotels in town and match prices just as other competitors do. Other than that, we are really happy to hear you were able to enjoy all of the shopping amenities surrounding the hotel. We really do hope to see you again in the future.

Thanks,

Neil (G.M.)

Very pleasant older style, small motel room. Great value and quite comfortable bed, but it has noisy plumbing which may be a problem for very light sleepers. A breakfast of cereal, bread, Danish pastries, boiled eggs and tea/coffee was included in the tariff - breakfast room was in the reception area and a bit small if more than two groups were to turn up at the same time. All in all, we were very satisfied with what we got for the price paid which included FREE wifi. A good stop off location for those doing the Pacific Coast Highway trip.

Room Tip: Walls are thin no matter where you are!

We stayed here for one night whilst road-tripping down the Pacific Coast Highway. The motel is just outside Monterey but there are many nearby restaurants and the town centre is only a short drive away.
Check in was quick and efficient, the room we had was very spacious with a fridge and coffee-making facilities. The king size bed was very comfortable but there were insufficient pillows. There was also free wifi and parking. The wifi connection was good.
There is no restaurant for evening meals at the motel but, as previously mentioned, many were nearby. We chose to drive into Monterrey and ate at a restaurant near the harbour.
After a good night's sleep we had breakfast in the motel's lobby. It wasn't partucularly inspiring but was sufficient for our needs.
