This is the second time I have stayed at this location. The price per night increased, but the improvements made since my last stay justify the cost. The best part of this lodging is the double room suite. One room has a king size bed with a refrigerator, sink, and microwave. The other room has two double beds. The rooms are connected by a bathroom, which separates the sink in one room from the shower and toilet in the other. This makes it easy for one to be using the sink while another is taking a shower undisturbed. Another outstanding feature of this hotel is the cleanliness. One can tell there is pride in the cleaning of this establishment. The upgrades since our first stay included new beds, down blankets, soft/firm pillows, and decorations throughout. The hotel's appearance upon our first visit would have been described as a dormitory. The management has softened the edges and warmed up the tone with vases, paintings, and other decorative adornments. Included in the price is a continental breakfast and small workout room. Overall the stay was a good value.

Room Tip: Try to get the first floor because there is no elevator to upper levels.

A very quaint environment on a former Spanish military outpost. Modern buildings, well kept on what is now the U.S. Military Defense Language School. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, Handicapped guest rooms are double rooms with two fully equipped rooms which share a bathroom. For families there are some Guest cottages available. The PX and theater are on post. there athletic fields and parade grounds with tables for picnics or just relaxing. There are woods and deer around the grounds, and a small cemetery on post. The front gate faces the marina and Fisherman's wharf in Monterrey Bay. The Pebble Beach Golf Course, downtown Carmel, and Carmel 17 mile drive are minutes away from the front gate.

Room Tip: Rooms on north side are quieter, Pool and fitness club are not part of guest lodging campus. I'...
