Just visited the Mucky Duck for my first time after coming to Monterey for years...... Glad I finally did. It was "trivia" night and the locals were rolling in about 8:30. The menu was pretty good, some nice offerings like calamari, burgers, beef, some seafood, salads, appetizers, sandwiches etc..... Full bar and some monitors to keep up on the local sports like the Warriors and the Giants. A very large outdoor patio but only open when staff permits. My server was "Shayla", very sweet and attentive, but it got hoppin as trivia time approached. A must visit if you have the time. I will go by again next time I am in town.

Great place - friendly and with a nice vibe. I ordered a few starters and was surprised to find that they were the same size as a main!!

I ordered the calamari and some bruschetta, which were really tasty. I also ordered a gin and tonic cucumber cocktail, which was very strong but good!

Had a restaurant.com coupon and went for lunch on a Sunday. The bar was full, but only a few people in the booths. Looked like a good place for locals to hang out on the weekend. They had one waitress (didn't get her name) who was tending bar, waiting tables, and doing a very good job. My fish and chips were excellent. My husband had the lunch special with calamari, soup and salad. Onion soup and salad were good; calamari was ok.

My husband and I have been to the Mucky Duck many times over the years and is has remained consistently good and reasonably priced. Located on Monterey’s wonderful Alvarado Street, it opens at 11 am for us early lunch bunch. We arrived on Saturday the first patrons and their wonderful bartender Jean was ready to roll. A nicely poured margarita and a crisp lager and lime started us off. This place can get very rowdy after 8 pm, so unless you want to be part of the party, go early to eat. This place is pretty funky but has lots of character too and is a Monterey standard. We ordered the chicken, steak and bacon sandwich called the El Duque and the slider trio. The El Duque is a huge sandwich with yes, three kinds of meat, the usual condiments and dripping with Russian dressing. It is a reincarnation of every American diner sandwich you have ever had and would probably be best enjoyed as a hangover cure at about 3 in the morning. Served with a choice of fries, soup or salad, the curly fries were fresh, hot and crispy. The slider trio was amazing. You get to choose from a variety of sliders and I got the lamb slider, the Ruben slider and the pulled pork slider. The lamb slider was freshly made and covered with Tzatziki and feta cheese on a grilled bun, to die for! The Ruben slider gives you four bites of great taste of pastrami, sauerkraut and dressing. The pulled pork slider was overflowing with juicy, pulled pork bathed in a spicy sauce. This is off the appetizer menu so I ordered a side salad but did not need to as the slider combo comes with a small pile of fresh greens and several curly fries decorating it. Lunch for two with two drinks each $54.

Take a flight of four, a double, or a single shot of any of a wide variety of special whiskeys. This is a pub for the connoisseur. The fire pit on the back patio is comforting on a cool night. The dart boards inside are fun. The modern dance music was unfortunately loud.
