We stayed here 2 nights and were quite happy. The room was huge and very quiet. Everything was clean and comfortable. They offer a very simple breakfast area in the lobby which was quite nice. The young gentleman who manned the front desk was very courteous and helpful.

Upon check in, we experineced a helpful, and very nice front desk staff but after running our Credit card, we were told it would not place any "hold" on it. Given it was New Year's we needed that extra $ for our trip. After checking in and heading out, my bf checked his statement online and sure enough there was a hold for the entire two night stay of $200! Our account was in the negative. Secondly, as a diamond elite member, we are allowed to have a late check out but when we got a call asking us to leave at 11:15 am, we asked for this "late check out" but were told we have 20 minutes! Really? This was New Year's DAY! Considering when we tried to check in at noon, we were told to come back after 3, but yet we have to leave at 11:45? And on a day when most folks need a little more sleep after a long evening. Seems unfair. Will not go back.

Thank you for your review of our property. Please allow me to address the issues you mentioned.
You were correct that your debit card was authorized for the full amount of your stay at check-in, as is standard with all guests. You also had a $50 Best Western card which we deducted from your balance, however, the amount in question was only the $50.00 difference. You agreed to use your debit card for the remaining balance and your debit card was charged at the time of check-out. I am sorry that the $50 caused your account to be overdrawn. With reference to check-out time, you were correct that you received a call at about 11:15am (since check-out is 11:00am) inquiring if you needed additional time. There is no mention of a late check-out request on your reservation, as the front desk would have not called. If you had contacted us prior to your arrival to request an early check-in we could have accommodated your request as well as a late check-out anytime during your 2 night stay. I appreciate your taking the time to post your comments regarding your debit card use as it will assist others. Please keep in mind each bank or credit card company has their own rules governing the authorization hold. I would recommend readers contact their credit card issuers to review their procedures.

You can't beat this great hotel in Monterey. Rooms are comfortable, people are great, and location is just far enough away you don't pay high hotel rates. We've stayed muliple times here and will be back.

The staff were very friendly and helpful- not as though they were trained to be, but as though they wanted to be. What a nice difference from other places we have stayed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

We Went to Monterey for the weekend.First time in the area. Traveling w my wife and kids. I wanted a clean. Safe hotel. W free breakfast. Free parking. Inside doors. And a good deal under $ 90 per night. After reading so many reviews in the area...we picked De Anza Inn. We are very glad and happpy with our choice. The hotel is located on freemont st. Not the most beautiful part of town but is a short drive 5min or less to the aquarium. Carmel. Seaside. Historic dowtown. 17 mile.
FRIENDLY STAFF and FAST CHECK IN. THE ROOMS ARE BIG AND BEDS ARE COMFORTABLE. Stayed on the first floor near the front desk. The Room was very clean. The breakfast is ok. It is free. Cereal bagels. Eggs and sausage. Normal. Hey its free!!!!!. If you want a hearty breakfast there is a Dennys next door.

The hotel is well maintained. Nice Fish pond in the lobby our kids liked the hotel.

YES NO AC IN ROOMS but they do have heat. Outside temp during our stay 50F. So no ac needed for our stay.

If i have to go back to Monterey I probably would stay in another part of town closer to the action. Walking distance to Cannery row or historic downtown. I would have to budget 200 a night plus parking plus breakfast....So for that kind of money I rather visit SF.

Great hotel for budget trips.

Our family of four stayed at the Best Western De Anza Inn on December 30th for 1 night while on our way to San Francisco, CA. We rented the family suite which consisted of two bathrooms and 2 bedrooms with a sofa sleeper. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean but the suite overall was a bit dated. The breakfast was good with just the standard items such as muffins, bagels, cereal, eggs, juice, etc. It met our needs.

We enjoyed our hotel stay. The room rate was very good - $99 before taxes. We were about 15 minutes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Our room had a king bed, sofa, and desk. The breakfast in the am was decent. They served eggs, sausage, muffins, bagels, cereal,.juice, and fruit. Also we loved the fish in the lobby.
