“Upgrade to the nearby Embassy Suite”
Reviewed 6 October 2009

I stayed here for a one night trip for a wedding. I used the ‘Team USA Advantage’ rate available to anyone (Google it) which gave me a better then AAA rate. I paid $134+tax . I really liked this hotel (especially compared to my stay at the near-by Embassy Suites). It was just off the road enough to make it feel secluded and Montery-esque. However, it was still very close to all of the sights. The pool area was beautiful and made for a great setting in the morning for the bride and grooms to open their gifts. Rooms were on the small side, though having the balcony made up for that. Rooms were also spotless. I felt like I was the first guest to stay in the room. I like the fact that the parking was underground and that access to the hotel was all secured (a key card was needed to enter at all access points). Only complaint is that there were never enough people at the desk. While the clerks were always very friendly and professional, there only ever seemed to be one person on duty and there was always a line (at least when I went). Only tip is to request a room closer to the lobby, or else be prepared to walk a LONG way every time you want to go to the lobby area.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They recommended great restaurants and points of interest. The pool is heated and the hot tub relaxing. There is a fire pit alongside the pool which is very romantic at night. There is also a restaurant on the premises, very convienient for breakfast or dinner. The room was clean and comfortable. Who ever is in charge keep up the good work.

Not much to say about this hotel. Good but quite expensive. Classic rooms, outside swimming pool, garage. Clean and functional.

A well furnished room with smart exterior & facilities. An extremely well equipped gym for those wanting to stay in shape while on holiday, and a relaxing pool area. Excellent high speed (complimentary) internet and heaps of free car parking. The hotel is a decent walk to Fishermans Wharf & Downtown and a car is required to get easy access to the main attractions of the area.

Not a new Hilton Garden Inn.. Another hotel converted to a HGI......I usually love the HGI, but this one does not measure up. Not to mention that they tried to charge me for an extra night after I had already got home...Found it on my credit card statement. Finally got it straightned out, but it was a mess.

Rooms were small - my family members kept bumping into each other - standard quality facility - we were relocated into a corner suite with a view of the parking lot and adjacent street - suite didn't appear to be finished. Restaurant expensive; cookies at the front desk tasted like they were from a package. Not good value at all for the money.

Feeling of the place was institutional, cold, impersonal. Rabbit warren of hallways. Would not stay here again - it is off the beaten path - traffic terrible outside as property is adjacent to local employers.

For the rate I paid, would rather have put these funds into a facility that emphasized to a greater extent warmth, interest in guests, and other factors that used to make the Hilton experience a very special one.
