Pleasant hotel and room. Balconies overlooking lovely pool in the centre of the motel. Very clean. Laundry facilities were useful. Impressed. Staff helpful.

My boyfriend and I really wanted to check out Big Sur and the Monterey Bay area. We originally had reservations at a place in Big Sur. Unfortunatly Big Sur had been hit by a big storm and many of the hotels in that area were without power and hot water, so we decided to head back to Monterey and find a more "commercial and reliable place to stay. The Garden Inn was perfect. Its centrally located in Monterey (about 3 miles from the Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay aquarium) and about 20 miles from the Big Sur area. I personally thought the hotels in the Big Sur area were either REALLY overpriced, or really crappy (no TV, no internet, lotsa bugs etc). The Garden Inn was really comfortable and resonably priced for the area and still close to the areas we were interested in. The beds were very comfy and the breakfasts were very tasty!!!! In my opinion, Id rather stay at a nicer more comfortable place and have to drive a bit further, then stay closer in accomdations that are no where near as nice. Besides, the drive down to Big Sur along the coast was absolutly gorgeous. I have been around the world and back and Big Sur has some of the most beautful coasal scenary I have ever seen!

Stayed here while attending the Monterey Jazz Festival. It was in a good location, close to everything. Rooms were nicely appointed. Free Wi-Fi. Exercise facility had a lot of equipment. Front desk was very attentive. Nice hotel at a reasonable price.

Excellent location. Just off Hwy 1 and to get to Cannary Row and Fisherman's Wharf was a simple 2 mile drive. Although the rooms are a little small, we had all the comforts with a microwave and refrigerator. The fitness center is excellent with individual TV's on each treadmill and bike. The pool is heated and even when the weather was cool children were having a great time swimming. There is a nice bar off the lobby and staff were very helpful.

This is a nice hotel with a pool and a very good fitness centre, there is also free parking.
The room was nice overlooking the pool with a balcony (albeit oversized ?)
The location is good for Heighway 1 but it is a good 15 mins or so walk to the wharf and all the restaurants, its not a bad walk its just a bit far to pop in and out . Wouldnt necessarily put me off going again but if you dont like or cant walk far you probably want one closer to the wharf.

I stayed here for a one night trip for a wedding. I used the ‘Team USA Advantage’ rate available to anyone (Google it) which gave me a better then AAA rate. I paid $134+tax . I really liked this hotel (especially compared to my stay at the near-by Embassy Suites). It was just off the road enough to make it feel secluded and Montery-esque. However, it was still very close to all of the sights. The pool area was beautiful and made for a great setting in the morning for the bride and grooms to open their gifts. Rooms were on the small side, though having the balcony made up for that. Rooms were also spotless. I felt like I was the first guest to stay in the room. I like the fact that the parking was underground and that access to the hotel was all secured (a key card was needed to enter at all access points). Only complaint is that there were never enough people at the desk. While the clerks were always very friendly and professional, there only ever seemed to be one person on duty and there was always a line (at least when I went). Only tip is to request a room closer to the lobby, or else be prepared to walk a LONG way every time you want to go to the lobby area.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They recommended great restaurants and points of interest. The pool is heated and the hot tub relaxing. There is a fire pit alongside the pool which is very romantic at night. There is also a restaurant on the premises, very convienient for breakfast or dinner. The room was clean and comfortable. Who ever is in charge keep up the good work.
