The location: The best if you want to be right on both the bay and Cannery Row. The accommodations: Very comfortable, colonial style rooms with soft down topped beds. Those that like a firmer mattress may not like these. Gas and wood fireplace, hard wood floors and comfortable chairs with a small dining table. We stayed in a corner room on the second floor on the cannery row side which had a wrap around outside deck, perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The staff: very accommodating, especially the bell hops, who literally run to fetch your car or even to retrieve something you left inside. The whole staff was very personable and friendly all around! The price: Like any place ocean side, it was spendy, but after staying 3 nights and noticing my wife and 9 month old son get some of the best sleep, it's worth it! The surroundings: fairly nice with a small beach behind the building. Visit the rooftop garden, you won't regret it! If homeless people make you nervous, watch before you step onto the beach, as the first day I almost stepped on a man sleeping on the sand! Don't get me wrong, it's not like the city has a huge problem with the homeless, just a few seem to gravitate to this area at times, but not every day.

Room Tip: Get a corner room regardless of ocean or row side

Such a lovely hotel by the sea. They have thought of every possible amenity and serve with sweetness and style. I wish we had booked an entire week. If in this area do stay. I will direct any and all friends to this lovely spot. So very close to 2 chocolate shops too. BONUS!

When I arrived to check into this hotel, they were in the middle of their happy hour, which consists of complimentary local wines and cheese for guests. What a welcome! The ladies at reception were super friendly. My room was just wow! I loved the way it was decorated and I enjoyed looking out over Cannery Row. The Aveda bathroom products were a lovely touch. There is also a nice rooftop terrace which is great to enjoy the wine and cheese just beware of the giant seagulls who will stalk you!

My husband and I just returned from a three night stay at Spindrift. We had a wedding to attend in Big Sur. Monterey's proximity to Big Sur is perfect. You can take day trips and still return to Monterey for a nice evening in one of the most romantic inns with fine restaurants within walking distance. Their late afternoon wine reception is a perfect way to end a day of sightseeing and you get to mix and mingle with other hotel guests. Spindrift is small and intimate. The staff are trained to make sure that all guests feel special. They are always available to answer questions and make recommendations. Every evening we enjoyed a fire with the large windows open enough to hear the sound of the ocean. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast in front of a fire listening to birds beginning their day while wearing our thick and warm Spindrift robes. The continental breakfast is served promptly at the time you request with linen napkins on a very large tray. I loved the china teacups from which to drink my coffee. We ate at our leisure and enjoyed it thoroughly. The beds are feather beds that you sink luxuriously into while enjoying the sound of the surf as your fire slowly burns down. It really doesn't get much better. Each time I leave Spindrift, I start planning a trip back. There's much to appreciate and enjoy about Spindrift. The small things add up to big things in this small boutique hotel which makes for warm beautiful memories.

Room Tip: Would definitely choose an ocean view room.

The Spindrift Inn was a lovely boutique hotel in the middle of Monterrey's Cannery Row. The up side of that was the convenience of being able to walk everywhere..restaurants, shopping, views of the water. The down side was it made the hotel noisy at night if you were on the street side when you had your windows open because there wasn't any air conditioning. Overall, we did enjoy our stay there, however. Rooms were clean, nicely appointed, and romantic with the wood-burning fireplaces. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. Happy Hour with complimentary wine and appetizers was a nice touch, though taking these to the rooftop was not an especially pretty place to sit. Breakfast was delivered to our room right at the time requested though our choices were limited. Book this hotel knowing what to expect and you won't be disappointed.
