This place was absolutely gorgeous, with a beautiful, lush bed, crackling fireplace, great wifi, and a view out over the ocean, where at sunrise (with supplied binoculars) we saw seals, otters, birds and even two whales. The location is perfect too - we had many walkable eating, drinking and sight seeing options (the aquarium is nearby too, if you're into that). The Ocean View room was about $80 more than the Street View room, but it was totally worth it. The service was excellent too, with fast check in, luggage bought to the door, parking available if needed (we just parked in the street). Highly recommended!

What's not to love about this place? Great location, excellent views, crackle of the in-room fireplace, wine/cheese, courtious and very helpful staff, comfortable bed, in-room breakfast...included. One of the few hotels I really look forward to staying at again.

My daughter and I ran across the Spindrift by accident years ago and it instantly became our favorite spot. The canopy beds, the large room layout, the fireplace, the views, the complimentary morning breakfast tray service and nightly wine happy hour -- every detail has been thought through and it certainly appeals to our feminine tastes.

We recently took a girl's trip up the coast and the Spindrift Inn was once again at the top of the list for an overnight stop. Unfortunately, they had an unexpected heat wave and we were unaware that the rooms don't have air conditioning, so even with our ocean view windows open, we were uncomfortably hot sleeping and dripping wet the next morning as we tried to pack and get dressed. I had also presented a different credit card upon check-in, but the charges were left on another that was used to make the reservation, so that was disappointing. However, the unusual weather was out of their control and mistakes happen, so I won't let this discourage us from returning.

If you're thinking of staying in Cannery Row, seriously consider this as your home away from home. You're in the heart of the best shops and restaurants, the Aquarium is just down the street, and you can't beat watching your daughter kayak among the sea otters in front of the hotel as you take photos from the lovely window seat in your room!

We want to thank you and your daughter for continually staying with us and providing us with such kind comments. As mentioned, we do offer several amenities such as wood burning fireplaces, fantastic views, and silver tray breakfast delivery which we are very happy that you both enjoy so much. Monterey did certainly encounter a heat wave and we are terribly sorry if this led to discomfort. We also want to apologize that you were charged out incorrectly and will certainly pass on your comments to our front desk manager to ensure proper billing procedures. Thank you for your continued support and we hope to welcome you both back very soon for another girl’s weekend!

Warmest Regards,

Spent one night with a King Bed and Ocean view and the room was very nice. Large poster bed, a fireplace, comfortable chairs and a wonderful window seat overlooking the small beach below and the water. Check in was quick and the sweet lady who welcomed us also offered a "Welcome Home" when we would return and head for the elevators. I like Aveda products and the linens were soft and comfy. My only issue was that with the heat wave, our room was very warm when we arrived and we didn't realize there was no AC in the hotel. There was a nice breeze with the open windows, but it got a little warm for us. Other than that, it's a great place to stay and we recommend it if you're in Monterrey.

We stayed here on a Sunday night as we were heading back down the coast on our motorcycles. We booked ahead of time on Travelocity.

The staff is super nice and held our belongings till the room was ready and called us to let us know they had been delivered to our room and we could come back any time. We chilled for a while drinking wine at the Taste of Monterey and then headed back to the hotel. The hotel had a very nice wine and cheese reception and we hung out there for a couple of hours. The wine was surprisingly good.

The hotel is right on Cannery Row so you can walk wherever you want to go. They have covered parking and only charged us for one spot since we were on the motorcycles.

The wood burning fireplace was an awesome way to warm up from the chilly ride. The bed was heavenly! I wish I had looked to see what kind of mattress it was because I want one!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the ocean are a little more expensive but I think we will do that next time. The r...

The location: The best if you want to be right on both the bay and Cannery Row. The accommodations: Very comfortable, colonial style rooms with soft down topped beds. Those that like a firmer mattress may not like these. Gas and wood fireplace, hard wood floors and comfortable chairs with a small dining table. We stayed in a corner room on the second floor on the cannery row side which had a wrap around outside deck, perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. The staff: very accommodating, especially the bell hops, who literally run to fetch your car or even to retrieve something you left inside. The whole staff was very personable and friendly all around! The price: Like any place ocean side, it was spendy, but after staying 3 nights and noticing my wife and 9 month old son get some of the best sleep, it's worth it! The surroundings: fairly nice with a small beach behind the building. Visit the rooftop garden, you won't regret it! If homeless people make you nervous, watch before you step onto the beach, as the first day I almost stepped on a man sleeping on the sand! Don't get me wrong, it's not like the city has a huge problem with the homeless, just a few seem to gravitate to this area at times, but not every day.

Room Tip: Get a corner room regardless of ocean or row side

Such a lovely hotel by the sea. They have thought of every possible amenity and serve with sweetness and style. I wish we had booked an entire week. If in this area do stay. I will direct any and all friends to this lovely spot. So very close to 2 chocolate shops too. BONUS!
