We stayed at the Clarion in Monerey on Sunday, April 21 for a one night stay. We needed a clean bed and safe place to stay for the night. (We have been spending lots of time in Monterey planning my son's wedding for Oct, 2013 - so the low rate for the night got our vote this time!)

Check-in was smooth, bed was clean and comfortable, the grounds are nice with all the blooming flowers. We did not use the indoor pool but we heard the kids having fun. It was a nice family atmosphere.

Breakfast in the morning was adequate. I usually eat the fresh fruit or boiled eggs and maybe an english muffin. The room for breakfast was small but it was a nice morning and we ate outside.

Very nice stay for one night while checking out the Monterey area.

A crampy hotel in beautiful Monterey. The staff was not pleasant. You could hardly understand the english they spoke. The rooms are very small. And the Breakfast Room and their food absolutely awful, filthy and disorganized. Another one to avoid

Room Tip: Do not stay there.

We stayed here for 2 nights in April having booked a queen room at the last minute. There is plenty of parking available and the check in desk is available 24 hours - if you are likely to check in after 10pm they appreciate it if you would let them know in advance - that's what we did and there were no issues.

The receptionist was very welcoming, efficient and friendly.

We stayed in one of the downstairs rooms and to be honest it was OK but a little bit tired, it needs a bit of TLC. It could do with a coat of paint especially to cover up the dirty fingerprints that have accumulated on the door over the years. There was also quite a strong foisty smell in the room - coming from the bathroom end of the room but we couldn't see any mould anywhere so not sure where it came from. The cleanliness was just OK it needs a bit more attention to detail - like vacuuming the edges of the carpet and wiping down the paintwork. The towels and bedding were spotless though.

There is a large fridge and a microwave in the room as well as an ice bucket and glasses. The in room wifi is fast and reliable.

Breakfast is not that great to be honest - there is a very limited number of tables and the room feels a bit grubby - food splashes on the walls from the bins and similar to the rooms a bit tired. The choice of food is not that great, biscuits and gravy, 3 cereals, juice and pastries - the pastries are not covered so anyone can sneeze on them or touch them and the milk for the cereal was not refrigerated, so reached room temperature.

All in all our stay was OK but we were a little disappointed with the quality of the room.

We stayed here on our way up from Morro Bay to Yosemite. I have never been to Monterey before, so I had to stop here for a night. The hotel was a great little place to relax for a night on our road trip through California. We were given this night as a gift from our friends, so I had no expectations, since we were happy to stay anywhere. The pool looked nice (didn't use it) and breakfast was included - it was good. The receptionist when we arrived at night was very nice and we had no problems! I would stay here again and, for the price, I would recommend this place to friends!

Stayed here for onnly one night on our way down the coast from SF but will definetely stay again! Allthough the room was on the small side it (as someone in the parking lot pointed out) it was cozy and comfortable. The first thing I noticed was a little sign on the bed explaining the pillows. You have a choice between feather down and down alternative. The comforter was down (from what I could tell) which was also a nice touch that we did not expect. The room was very clean and the staff was pleasant. Yes the pool had lots of kids but everyone was friendly and the spa was nice and toasty. All in all it was a great stay.

Stayed here for a few days and the hotel was very nice and clean and the grounds are beautiful. The service was good as was the included breakfast. Really good location to everything. Walking distance to downtown monterey and lots of good restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Actually, booked a block of rooms for my upcoming wedding and the price offered was excellent! I know my friends and family will be very happy with the hotel!

We stayed for four nights at this hotel in a room with a king sized bed. Our three year old slept between us. That I don't recommend---but the hotel was nice. It isn't a fancy hotel, but it met our needs just fine. The breakfast was good with waffles, cereal, fruit, muffins, toast, biscuits and gravy. It was nice to not have to worry about breakfast while on vacation. Our room was clean with plenty of room. The pool was a wonderful addition to have. My son loved being able to go swimming. It does have salty water in it, which was just fine with us. The water was warm. This was a good location and it was easy to drive to destinations. The shower in the room was tall enough for my 6'6" husband to not feel like he had to duck.
