This was a dirty place, Small room and very noisy. The A/C unit was so loud we had to turn it off.

We stayed at this place for one night while visiting Monterey and Carmel during pacific highway drive. We liked this hotel. Check-in and check-out were easy. The room was nice and big enough. Bed was very comfortable. The room had sofa, TV, refrigerator, microwave and coffee-maker. Bathroom was clean, nice and had Neutrogena products. It had Jacuzzi tub inside it which we used and liked. They served good breakfast including muffins and waffle. The breakfast room was small but people kept moving so wasn't a problem. Parking lot was small.

This place is bit far from Cannery Row but it didn't take much time driving there from Cannery Row.

All in all, we were satisfied with the place for the price we paid and would like to stay there again.

The place was clean and the staff helpful. It's a typical old-style motel with courtyard rooms. The best part of it was the price. For Monterey, it was very reasonable. The pool was not great: froth!!! The breakfast was, well, laughable, but who expects a great breakfast at a US motel? I'd stay again with teenagers, but if I was with my wife alone, I would upgrade. It isn't that Munras is so out of it as much as the appointments of the hote are just basic. If you're not going to spend any time at the motel, stay here. If you are, stay elsewhere (but then why come to Monterey? The action is outside the motel). The one problem was noise, particularly Europeans, mostly Italians, but also Brits, talking loudly both late at night and early in the morning. August is when Italians, French, and Brits travel and they like northern CA a lot.

We pulled into Monterey without any reservations anywhere. It was a Sunday so we weren't too concerned with finding a place, but we wanted something decent (after our stay in Santa Cruz - different review). We have also had some issues in Monterey before so we wanted to see the room before we committed. The gal at the desk was very helpful and provided us a key to a room for us to check out. The room was great and the fact that there was a heated indoor pool and hot tub was a great bonus - it can get pretty cold there in summer. She provided a pretty good rate and after a big of jovial whining, she provided a couple of further price adjustments. The next morning, we had a quick swim and then a decent breakfast and then hit the road happy.

Monterey is a wonderful place for bicycling, but if you plan to get around mostly on a bike during your visit to Monterey, this is not the best place to stay. In Monterey, the farther you are from the coast, the more likely you are to be on a hill. This motel is on Munras, which is Monterey's motel row, and Munras starts to climb moderately at about where it intersects Fremont. That's fine if you're a physically fit frequent cyclist, but was not so great for us. We had to walk our bikes up the hill. If you're going to be driving to the tourist areas, the location of this place is not bad, but remember that parking in Monterey is scarce and/or expensive.
We stayed in a suite. The suites at this place appear to be converted studio apartments above carports. The walkways at the front on the suites are boardwalks and are quite noisy when other guests come and go. The walls are thin, too.
The regular motel rooms appear to be of a different construction and vintage, so I can't comment on them.
Next time we come, I will try somewhere else.
