I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the inn is even though it's a Best Western. The room was decorated nicely with a comfy bed. The balcony sitting area was nice to have. The cheese and wine happy hour during 4-6pm and a greeting bottle of wine in the room were both a nice touch.

The inn is within walking distance to all shops in Cannery Row and the nearby beach. I also like the fact that the inn is one the better quality pet-friendly places that I have stayed at.

There were a few things that could have been better: noises could be heard easily from kids running outside of the room within the hotel, shower wasn't working very well, and automatic door lock had trouble opening. The staff was pleasant though and gave me a discount for the inconvenience, which was good customer service.

Room Tip: perhaps avoid rooms next to walkway or street

We stayed here at the end of May for 4 nights on the first floor. The room was large with two double beds, a gas log fireplace (not used), somewhat creaky "antique" furniture providing adequate drawer space, reasonable hanging and desktop space. There was a window seat and a non-view of the inner courtyard.
We make good use of the bedside tables when we're on holiday and wished they'd been provided here.
We had a coffeemaker and fridge, plus a free halfbottle of wine was on ice waiting for us with a box of two chocolates (a nice touch).
Our room was in good decorative order, but the corridors and lift looked well-used. The overall feeling was of a slightly tired motel; apart from the main house where the reception and breakfast room are.
The complimentary breakfast consisted of "grill-your-own" toast or english muffin plus fruit juice, coffee, fresh fruit and muffins. A major problem is that there is very limited seating, leaving guests to perch on the armchairs in the lounge area with a cup in one hand and a plate on their knees, hover patiently in reception or trek something back to their room.
For our next time in Monterey we would look around for somewhere else to stay, rather than having here as our first choice.

Comfortable clean rooms, great location, wine & cheese hour.

Room Tip: Call for reservation, instead of using internet.

Finding a hotel that fits 2 parents and 3 children under 9 is difficult. 1 room is not big enough and 2 adjoining rooms are expensive. The Family Suite at the Victorian Inn was the perfect solution. It had a bedroom with 2 double beds, a dining room table, small kitchen, living room with sofa bed, and window seats that could be used as a twin bed. All of this PLUS a beautiful view of the ocean and 2 fireplaces! The rate was reasonable and the location was great - short walk or drive to all the attractions. I definitely recommend Victorian Inn.

Room Tip: Ask for the Family Suite on the 3rd floor
