We stayed at the Best Western early October and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and large with cathedral ceilings and a great marble fireplace. The front desk staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We had Jacqueline mostly and she gave us great advice on attractions, restaurants, and directions. We were also able to get tickets for the aquarium there which allows you to bypass the long lines at the aquarium. I would not recommend the aquarium, as a sidebar, was not that big or impressive.
The Best Western breakfast was very good, substantial. The other piece of advice is that the hotel is hard to get to depending where you are...there are several parallel roads that do not allow you to turn left and have to go farther out of your way to get back to the hotel so...use wave street when you are nearby.
Parking costs $13/night which is a disappointment that it is not free but it is a parking garage which is nice.
There are restaurants you can walk to near the hotel...Bulldog British Pub was wonderful and had mostly locals there playing cards and food great!.
All in all a great place.

The Victorian Inn was very centrally located and walking distance to Cannery Row. It was also 10 minutes away from Pebble Beach and 2-3 blocks from Monterey Bay. The staff, parking, and breakfast were all great. Best feature was the evening happy hour with local wines.

My husband & I recently stayed her for 2 nights on our vacation. We had recently celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary so th hotel had a bottle of wine & chocolates for us which was very nice. We had a fireplace & a balcony which I used evey morning to have my morning coffee. This is 2 blocks from Cannery Row & we walked there each day. Many shops & resturants to choose from. Highly recommend this hotel. Their breakfast wasn't great for us but that isn't something that would keep me from staying here. No a/c in this hotel but was not a problem as it was cool at night and we slept with the patio door opened as we were on the 3rd floor. I would stay here again & again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony. Very peaceful in the mornings & evenings.

We had to reorganize our trip at the last minuet and considered ourselves lucky to find any hotel on Cannery Row. The beds were quite nice. Our room had a working fire place and a small balcony along with a refrigerator. Breakfast is okay - there are "plain omelettes" (from frozen egg patties), oat meal, cereal, muffins, etc. The staff was very friendly and the location is within walking distance of many of Monterey's attractions. Parking was free.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 3rd floor to reduce noise. Ask for a room with a fireplace.

This was a Travel Advisor pick. We spent the weekend in Monterey and needed three rooms for our family. Since it was a short trip we wanted to be close to Cannery Row, the Aquarium and the ocean walk through Pacific Grove to Lover's Point as well as Fisherman's Wharf and the City of Monterey. The location is two blocks from Cannery Row so it is central while located away from the noise on a very quiet street. The hotel check-in was efficient with the space allocated to the lobby very modest. They were able to accommodate our request for an early check-in since we arrived very early for two of the rooms. we were able to drop our bags and head to lunch on the wharf. All three rooms were next to each other on the second floor overlooking a courtyard. We were pleasantly surprised to find all the rooms had a fireplace and two very comfortable chairs. Breakfast was included and it was delicious with something for everyone.

Room Tip: if you have any disabilities you may want to request a room close to the lobby since the rooms are s...

This was another surprise pick as we had planned on staying in Carmel but that was full, so plumped for this one and it was great. This was 3 different blocks of rooms over 3 floors we were on the second floor back of the road. again very spacious and very clean and because we are now Diamond members we got a bottle of red wine and chocolates as a welcome pack. This hotel has a cheese and wine hour between 4.30 and 5.30 so guest can meet and mingle a really nice touch. The lounge/dining room was Victorian in looks and it was where we also had breakfast. Once again hot and cold and buffet style so no need to go without food.

Room Tip: I think the front block could be quite noisy as that is right next to a main road which was busy.

Great location. Within comfortable walking distance to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. We were given a corner room on the 2nd floor with 2 dbl beds. We are a family of five, so we were able to use the bay window cushions to make a pallet on the floor,(no roll away beds available) for one of the kids and everyone slept comfortably. There is really not a view to speak of from this hotel, but it is so close to where there is a view, we were completely satisfied with the location, and with 3 kids 8 yrs and under, we needed a comfortable walking distance.
There is no need to bring a swimsuit, there is no hotel pool, but its chilly weather and the water (ocean) is cold even in the heat of summer. There is also no AC, which being from Texas we were very concerned about, but there is a fan in the room closet to use, but also we just opened the windows and there was a nice breeze. We never made it back to the hotel timely for the cheese and wine tastings, (though we tried) and on our Saturday night stay they actually had it available for 1 hour and not 2. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was satisfying and a welcome treat considering the expense and having to drive somewhere for a breakfast elsewhere.

Dear Kristi5843,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay. I’m glad we were able to make your family of five comfortable while you were with us. I believe the Victorian Inn is a great hotel for families like yours who wish to experience the beauty of Monterey, and our central location is perfect for trips to the Aquarium and Cannery Row. Thank you, as well, for your comments about breakfast – I’m glad we could satisfy your hunger!

As you noticed, the weather here is typically quite cool; our Bay has the perfect natural air conditioning. This means we can help conserve our natural resources and reduce energy waste by utilizing our cool climate. This is one of many things that makes the Monterey Bay such a wonderful vacation destination. We hope to see you back for your next family adventure!

Regards,

The General Manager
