Eleven of us met for lunch at Seafood Village in Monterey Park. As the name indicates, this Chinese restaurant is well known for its seafood.

We started with creamy shrimp with honey-candied walnuts. The shrimp was delicious with just a touch of sweetness. Next we had clams in black bean sauce, ginger, and green onions. It was artistically presented, but the clams seemed too chewy to me. We were served the house crab special, which was also a spectacular presentation. The platter contained three whole crabs covered with sautéed and crispy garlic and red chilies. One of our group members said, “The crab was one of the best crab dishes I have ever had”. It was hard work getting the meat out of the crab, but worth the effort.

We also had a tofu and Crispy deep fried bean curd with bamboo fungus. Members of the group thought both were superb.

The sautéed pea shoots were perfectly seasoned with herbs and garlic. My favorite dish was the Sautéed Snow Fish Filets with Garlic and Lemon. This is reputed to be the most popular dish at the restaurant, and justifiably so.

The menu includes chicken, beef, vegetable, pork, noodle and other dishes.

This is a great Chinese restaurant with good price and yummy food. They cook real Chinese food - fresh, tasty, and big portion. Their pepper and salt Crab is the best item. Beside their soy sauce duck and tofu is unbeatable too. Highly recommend. Good service too. Disadvantage is lack of parking spot and hard to find parking during rush hours

This is a great Chinese, Vietnamese restaurant but the parking is near impossible on the weekends. Tried to eat there twice and could not park in the lot and there was over a 40 minute wait even in the afternoon. Went again on a weekday (Tuesday) and the food is good. Very fresh and well prepared. Have been there a few times and have never been dissapointed with the food or service.

If you like seafood, this is the place for you. Inexpensive and great authentic Chinese food awaits you here. Parking can be difficult, because of the limited space. We arrived at 11:30 on Sat. for lunch, and there was no problem. But when we left, it was packed.

Of course we had to have the signature house special crab. We paid $30.00 for a 3 lb. crab. They charged us $9.99/lb.(market price). It was excellent! Was very sweet, and easy to eat. Just a little messy. I liked the way that it was prepared with lots of garlic bits.

We also ordered the squid with black bean sauce ($5.95), and the Seafood hot pot with to-fu($7.95) from their great lunch menu. Lots to choose from, and the portions are very generous. All includes soup(light beef& veg. soup), and a huge pot of rice, and tea. Everything was so delicious, and well prepared. I've dined in Hong Kong, and this is just as good.

Excellent service! The servers and managers are constantly checking on you, by replacing dirty plates, or refilling the water glasses. Very clean and cozy place. This is truly my favorite new Chinese restaurant. Can't wait to go back!

This very affordable Chinese seafood restaurant serving geat seafood Chinese style is very popular with the Chinese clientele, which is always a good sign, always look out for such places.
During the weekend better come early, or make a reservation, since it fills up very fast.
The menu is bilingual English-Chinese with a lot of pictures, pictures of a lot of dishes are displayed on the walls.
They have live lobsters, crabs, shrimps, fish etc. available, these are priced per lbs., you can have them prepaired any way you like, when in doubt the waiter can recommend a style for you. The service is fast, even when busy.
As usual in Chinese restaurants, you come here for the food, not for the atmosphere or the trappings, and the food is fantastic!
Highly recommended!
