From the time we called to book this unforgettable trip the warmth and genuine care was obvious. We felt as though we were special guests even before we arrived. But once we did Mollie, who with her brother, Jeff, who are owners and managers, came to our car with a greeting one would expect from family. Mollie even had a twinkle in her eye and a smile that hinted at the heavenly experience she knew awaited us.

AThe room is magnificently appointed which would even have impressed Mr. Hearst, I'm sure. Serenely muted tones and original art adorn the A frame room, which lends to the feeling of being in a cabin in the sky. Luxurious fresh and white super-soft bedding sits on top of a pillow top mattress which is at the center of tastefully streamlined wood furnishings. Two overstuffed chairs and an ottoman with a lovely and cozy throw blanket invite you to get comfortable by the breathtaking view. And when I say breathtaking, I mean that I actually gasped! Next to the roaring fireplace is a huge balcony over the bay. Just a few feet below seal lions and otters roll around welcoming their visitors with an ever changing display of nature. The waters below hypnotize you into the fantasy of leaving home and hearth behind and never leaving.

Back inside the immaculate bathroom is a colored LCD lit jet powered whirlpool bath. In addition there is a separate huge shower with three adjustable shower heads large enough for two. These amenities alone are worth any price and any distance traveled.

Every detail was addressed and no expense was spared in these accommodations. And abundance of thick and thirsty white towels and natural toiletries were provided in abundance every day of our five day visit. Even the facial tissue is top of the line. In addition to all of this they provide central air and heat and a ceiling fan.

The restaurant below is not to be missed The Galley is literally a few short stair steps away. It is a warm, inviting family friendly place where all of the food is prepared without heavy sauces and all freshly made with generous portions.

Bottom line here is our stay here was spectacular. Mollie and Jeff checked up on us just enough to make us feel cared for and catered to. Everyone from our hosts to the sweet and friendly housekeeping staff seemed to have been hired for our benefit whose sole purpose was to make our stay a true vacation, or as the Europeans call it "a Holiday".

We have already planned our return trip to the Anderson Inn. But rather than leaving home, we truly feel as though we will be coming home.

Have to agree with other posters on here: The Anderson Inn is a great place to stay. Jeff and Mollie Anderson are the loveliest hosts you could wish for and go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay.

We were in Room 201 i think, over the northwest corner and thought it was fantastic. Gorgeous views over the bay and the rock. To be honest, I know some people complain about the power station but I think it looks pretty striking. Each to their own i guess, but with the rock and the wildlife, the power station doesn't dominate the view at all.

From the balcony it was such a treat to watch the sealions, sea otters and pelicans. Room itself was well done, lots of space, great shower, large comfy bed.

We were travelling with our 1 year old and when we rang to book they didn't have a travel cot(crib) but Jeff and Mollie promptly went out and got one. Really friendly hosts and I can't imagine there's anywhere close to being up to this standard in Morro Bay.

My wife and I recently spent our honeymoon at the Anderson Inn and we had a wonderful time there. Mollie and Jeff Anderson (a brother/sister team) made us feel very welcome and were simply the friendliest innkeepers we have ever met on our travels.

Each time we saw them during the 5 nights we were there, they were very forthcoming with dining and other tourist recommendations, and they genuinely cared about making our stay as memorable and pleasurable as possible. This kind of customer service is something that is increasingly difficult to find these days, and we're so grateful to them for their hospitality.

We found out about the Anderson Inn through TripAdvisor - they were the #1 ranked hotel in Morro Bay, and they are very deserving of that ranking. Started in January 2008, the inn consists of 8 units - three of which (#201, 202, and 2030 have porches that overlook the water. All units have a nice view of Morro Rock, assuming of course you can see it through the fog. The inn is located in the heart of the town, within easy walking distance of many fine restaurants (we highly recommend at least one meal at the Galley Restaurant directly below the inn if you enjoy seafood), kayak and canoe rentals, whale watching tours, and of course shopping.

We had the opportunity to stay in two different rooms during our stay. The beds are topped with a pillowtop (very comfortable), and the rooms had showers with three heads (wonderful). The rooms also have a fridge, coffee maker, ironing board, flatscreen TV and iPod docking station. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the Andersons spared no expense in furnishing these rooms (and it shows).

If there was one time we would be willing to splurge for a nice place to stay for a few days, the Anderson Inn would be the place to do it. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Morro Bay and the Central Coast of California.

Also - thank you TripAdvisor. If it weren't for your website we would have never found this special place. It just shows that word of mouth - so to speak - is the best form of advertisement out there.

Jeff was welcoming and helpful on our arrival. We can't think of a room that was more inviting and comfortable, due to Molly's attention to detail. The bed was very comfortable and its furnishings were deluxe. The shower with multiple jets was an unexpected treat. We enjoyed the restaurant directly below the hotel -- a wonderful convenience after a long day touring the Santa Ynez valley. At the dock just below the hotel, we surprised a couple of sea lions who'd been resting below. A great experience and we hope to return!

Great find along the California coast in Morro Bay! Overall, a good value for a California coast experience. It's all about the room.

The Anderson Inn has 8 rooms on second floor, with below an office, 6 parking spaces, and an attached restaurant. Three rooms have balconies overlooking Morro Bay. The southmost room, room 203, is a corner room with a nice view of the bay and the rock, and faces away from the power plant. Balcony has two chairs and low table. Great for watching sunset over the bay and the rock.

Access to balcony from the room is through sliding glass door and screen door.

In the room, the bedding and furnishings are excellent. Towels are top-grade Egyptian cotton. New plasma TV. Bathroom is state-of-the-art. Jacuzzi tub (for one). Shower has 2 additional body jets.

Molly Anderson is super friendly. Check in was a breeze, and done in the room.

The Galley, the restaurant downstairs, is okay. Folks are nice and helpful. Brought drinks back to the room to watch the sunset on the balcony. Had dinner at the restaurant twice. Reservations are helpful, particularly for around sunset time.

The bay was calm during our stay, and no sounds of surf were heard nor waves seen. Sea lions and pelicans can be seen and heard from the room. Boats going in and out of the bay, too. It's a bay, not a beach. Beach is several minutes drive away.

Morro Bay is a small town with a few restaurants and shops. Lots of inexpensive EconoLodge types of motels. The Anderson Inn and the Galley restaurant are definitely several cuts above. More like upscale, much pricier, and often pretentious coastal resorts farther north and south. Unlike those places, Anderson Inn has small-town, friendly attitude. The Anderson Inn may be the most luxurious inn on the coast between Pismo Beach and Big Sur.

Hearst Castle is perhaps 35 minutes drive north from Morro Bay. Anderson Inn is highly recommended as an overnight stay if visiting Hearst Castle.

After reading all the positive reviews on tripadvisor we arranged to stay at the Anderson Inn for two nights, midway through our road trip in July from San Francisco to LA., and we can now confirm first-hand how reassuringly accurate the reviews are. Molly and Jeff Anderson who greeted us on our arrival are delightfully friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Molly showed us to our room which was spacious, luxurious and spotlessly clean. The beds were the most comfortable we'd slept in during the whole of our trip. The bathroom room with its' massive walk- in shower and three adjustable power heads was a real treat. We decided for convenience on our first evening to eat at the Anderson's attached Galley Restaurant. Molly booked our table and thereby secured us a table overlooking the bay which was a real bonus. We were able to watch the beautiful sunset over the bay whilst enjoying first class cuisine. As the dining experience was so good we chose to eat there again the following evening. The Anderson Inn which was the most inexpensive accommodation we stayed in during our road trip proved to be a firm favourite.
