“Very nice stay”
Reviewed 20 September 2010

We very much enjoyed our three night stay at the Embarcadero Inn. The location is great, the service was friendly, and the rooms were neat and clean, What more could you ask? Well, the bed was a little soft but that's just me. It's not a "deluxe" type of hotel, but we were very happy with our choice. Some of the extras that made it special were the balcony overlooking the bay, the gas fireplace in the room and several very good restaurants within walking distance. We'd definitely stay there again.

First let me start off by saying most of the hotels in Morro Bay are OLD. It's part of the charm. This one was not as old as many. It was well cared for and we enjoyed our stay. The Embarcadero Inn is right on the Embarcadero .. across the street is water! Its at the south end, about 5 minute walk away from all the shops/touristy areas. This is really a great location - close enough to walk on over, but not have to deal with the parking, or noise of it all. I think all the rooms have water views, which is nice. We had a little house across the street, but we were on the 2nd floor so we could see over it.

Check in was quick and easy. We got a decent price for the room, and I felt like it was a good value. The room was pretty nice, dated, but nice and comfortable. We had a King size bed, table and a chair, small frig, microwave, dresser & old style tv. Small balcony with a couple chairs, and the best part was that the hotel jacuzzi was right across the hall. The bathroom was a typical small hotel bathroom. Nothing special, but it was clean and had great water pressure. I did like the fact that the shower/toilet were in a separate little room so you could close that door for privacy, while someone else used the sink area. The shower curtain was very thick rubber/plastic of some sort - it was driving me nuts because it kept hitting you as you are in the shower, but thats just a nit picky thing. Bed was comfy and we slept well. They offered a continental breakfast, just pastries mostly, coffee and juice.

The hotel offers free dvd rentals, which is nice. They also include a free pkg of popcorn in the microwave which was cute. Free wireless, free covered parking, with window washing stations all over the lot, which I thought was very nice.. Employees all seemed very pleasant. We enjoyed our stay, and would stay here again.

I was fine with everything except for the beds. They were not at all comfy. We stayed in room 208 and paid $155 a night.

We stayed there for just one night. Clean room, prompt service. Shampoo and soap came through dispensers which while not greatly appealing, was tolerable. Good bed and pillows. Continental breakfast with standard items was on the 3rd floor and helped us from having to look for breakfast elsewhere in the morning. Didn't use the available Hot spa but when we took a look it was neat and deserted. My only problem is with the partial view of the QQ room that we booked. We went on a week day and paid $155.00 for the night. The excuse of a view we had was the tip end of a sail boat and the water around it that was barely seen through the slits of the buildings right in front and the full view rooms jutting on both sides of the balcony from the same building. Even that was impeded by a large crane from an ongoing construction. We stayed in room #212. So at least for the 2nd floor rooms b/n the full view rooms with the bldngs in front should not be described as having any view. The nearness to Embarcadero street and the Bay itself was pretty good and we enjoyed our stay. Pelican Grill next door served a decent dinner and Giovanni's Fish Market all the way at the end of the street stood up to its reputation for fresh fish and chips. I like it when the batter is thin. Estero, Anderson Inn, Gray's Inn etc are on the water side of Embarcadero street and Embarcadero Inn was on the opposite side. To be fair the Inn has no control over how the buildings come up on the other side I guess. So if you are expecting to enjoy any partial view I will not recommend it but otherwise the stay was good. We drove to the beach which is at walkable distance and external showering up facilities was after was better than Monterey. The place itself and the streets reminded me a little of Carmel/Monterey. Natural History Museum was wonderful. We plan to make another visit when the Monarch Butterflies arrive. It is also a great place for bird watching. Morro Rock is spectacular and can be seen in many states throughout the day due to the coastal fog. A photographer's dream if the Sun will eventually come out to change the all masking fog.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights as we made our way from SF to LA. A warm and inviting welcome was given to us by the desk clerk. Check in was quick and we were in our room overlooking Morro Rock within minutes. Our room was big and airy and the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast choice was plentiful with plenty of seating for anyone who was using the dining room. Really nice touch was that the front desk will lend you a pair of binoculars if you want to watch the wild life in the bay or on the coast. Would definitely stay here again.

We had not intended to stay in Morro Bay but needed to stop, so we just dropped in here. Staff was very welcoming and helpful, gave us a good rate on a nice room. The spa was welcome. Breakfast had a good selection. Morro Bay itself is a quiet town, good for walkers and nature lovers who don't expect SoCal fun in the sun.

The hotel is OK (over-priced and fairly basic/standard) but Morro is not so do not go to the hotel.
Morro is one of the most miserable places we stayed - not just because of the mists and cold (in June) but also the lack of prom and places to wander.
Help-yourself breakfast was pretty good.
Good range of free DVDs for family.
We expecyed more for the money we paid.

I'm sorry the weather was foggy but summer on the coast will usually be like that during June, July and August due to the heat inland. Our hotel offers many things of interest to do in Morro Bay such as kayaking, sub-sea tours, bicycling, a visit to the Natural History museum or simply relaxing on the beach. Morro Bay has many nice gift shops and great restaurants all within walking distance to the Embarcadero Inn. Maybe re-visit in the fall where the coast has a great abundance of sunshine and warmer weather. We also offer maps for hiking, biking and bird watching at the front desk along with complimentary binoculars if you just ask. Thanks
