Do you love to be woken up by barking dogs? Do you like passive aggressive staff? How about ridiculously tiny rooms? If you answered yes, the Bayfront Inn is for you!

Owner/manager at front desk is weirdly uptight about children but appears to be fine with dogs barking day and night. The "two doubles" room (#9) is WAAAY too small for two beds but they crammed them in here. (Way to make a buck!) And both mornings I was awakened by barking dogs. (7am!). It feels a little like staying at your crazy dog-loving aunt's place. Good location but there are plenty of others to choose from. If you don't have a dog with you, try elsewhere.

Will not stay here again.

We are always the bad guys when we have to say something about children playing in a manner that could hurt them and who are left unattended by parents. Even if a parent is physically present, the parent becomes disengaged when playing with their tech device. It is our liability if a child gets hurt on premises. Also, we have to respond to complaints from other guests, which we did in this case. We don't hold a grudge, just because we had to say something to this guest's children about their inappropriate behavior on premises doesn't mean we won't be nice. Is this passive-agreesive? Glad they enjoyed all the guest in-room perks, the fish&chips meal on the house, and the 4 ice cream certificates because it was one child's birthday. No complaints about the cleanliness of the room.
To address the sound and the room size: This room is on an end, sound-proofed, and that weekend there were no dog guests above or near this room. We have no control over sounds that arise outside of our premises. All of our rooms are small compared to newly constructed hotels, which we state online. This guest booked a room with 2 full beds for their family. We want our guests to enjoy their stay and at no time did this guest complain about the room, or anything for that matter.

Clean room and Friendly staff is a big plus. The entire town of Morro Bay is encountering a sand fly problem. We spray with organic products; we won't use any other kind of spray. We have a bug contraption on the property. Guests who leave their uneaten food items on tables or near their rooms is out of our control, but a trash can just steps away. Staff is continually picking up.

My husband, two dogs, and I just returned from a stay at Bayfront. The location and view are unbelievable. I've read the previous reviews, and all I can say about the low scores is that the hotel is very transparent about policies, the facility, etc. on their website, including the fact that the rooms are very small; they even include measurements. In honesty, it was a little too small for two adults and two 60-ish pound active dogs, but it's not like we didn't know in advance. The photos are accurate, too, right down to the cute kitschiness of the place. It's not a four-star resort, but it is clean, convenient, and friendly. One caveat: the rooms do not have air-conditioning, which isn't unusual in Morro Bay. If you've never been, the temperature rarely gets out of the 70's, and sometimes not even that far. However, I would have liked this fact to be on the website, as it is on other hotel websites in the area. Our room was upstairs, and with only the usual hotel front window, the sun hitting the wall and roof all afternoon, and ocean humidity, the room was very hot and took a long time to cool down with the door and window open and the ceiling and bathroom fans on.

It's always great to find a hotel that not only tolerates pets, but welcomes them; our pets are our babies. The host didn't realize that we were bringing two dogs rather than one and was apologetic that there was only one doggie treat bag in the room, it was stocked with a squeaky toy, biscuits, mutt mitts, a new fleece throw, and a very helpful list of dog-friendly establishments in the area, which was great while we were on the move with two large, fussy hounds. Morro Bay, as it turns out, is quite pet-friendly. The hotel is also less than ten minutes from Del Mar Dog Park and Morro Strand Beach, which allows pets off-leash. Morro Rock is a few minutes' walk or about a minute's drive, and there is an on-leash beach on either side of the rock. There is also a vacant lot beside Frankie and Lola's with a little bit of dog walking room.

There were snacks and beverages provided gratis in the room, including local salt water taffy. Extra perks included: a free wine tasting for two at Morro Bay Wine Seller, which was also pet-friendly and had an interesting selection, a free fish-and-chips at Giovanni's (about a two-minute walk down Embarcadero), and two cinnamon buns at Frankie and Lola's next door which we didn't have time to get (this will haunt me for days). I loved the Keurig in the room, and the galley downstairs had ice, tea, etc. The bed was relatively comfortable.

All in all, we had a good time. It’s not many places that include so many perks standard. Again, if one were looking for more plush accommodations, they are in Morro to be had, but they may not be pet-friendly, they're definitely not going to have such a great location, and they will cost more.

Room Tip: The downstairs rooms might be a little cooler and better if your pets don't like stairs or need frequent walks.

A wonderful place to stay. Very friendly and personal at check-in. Very dog friendly. I loved the deck and patio and made some good dog friends there. Morro Bay is a very dog friendly town and we had an excellent fish dinner with other dog owners at a local restaurant. There are tons of restaurants and shops within a short dog walk. The rooms are smallish but very comfortable. Our room was quiet and we slept great, with the gentle sound of gulls to wake us. There were so many nice touches: lots of plush towels and supplies, a bag of dog goodies, freshly baked bread in the "galley", original art everywhere. The location is great. The Inn was a refreshing change from the cookie cutter franchise offerings.

We stopped in Morro Bay to split up our drive from Los Angeles to Carmel. The distance was perfect for a stop. The town is pretty cool if you like fishing towns. Great shops and places to eat on the main street. The rock is pretty awesome as well. I am a professional photographer so I liked the photo options at the rock and around town on the waterfront.

The Bayfront Inn was exactly as advertised. Clean and close to the rock. The room was small and the walls are paper thin. If you stay there, request an upstairs room because any walking above will keep you up at night or wake you before you are ready in the morning. There was quite a long list of "rules" that were recited as we checked in as well. Maybe its because we were profiled with our two teenage boys? The shower steam set off the smoke alarm in my son's room at 11:00pm and there was no one in the office to take care of it so we had to endure the screeching until the steam subsided.

As I walked around the town, I noticed some other properties on the main street a short walk south. In hind sight, we would probably have liked those a bit better.

If you just want a clean bed for the night and then be gone, this works fine. Any more than a night and I would look at other alternatives.

Room Tip: Ask for upstairs as they are quieter.

We explain to the guest what the guest will be signing when we hand them the receipt...1. No Smoking on or near premises. Quiet time is 10pm. We explain where everything is on site, like the ice machine, a microwave, where we serve breakfast, where to get the cinnamon buns in the morning, where the internet access code is located in the room, and how the bottled water, juices, snacks, and 5 piece fish and chips meal is on the house. Plus, we explain how to use the Digital TV clicker so that the guest will enjoy an expanded tv system. When parents travel with teens carrying skate boards we also explain how skateboard riding is not allowed on premises. Same goes for people traveling with pets, we explain that pets must be on leash and may not do duty on premises. We also make sure that we have the right amount of guests in the room. Yes, its a lot of stuff to listen to, but for many guests, our front desk rap is appreciated; and not considered profiling. There is someone on premises 24 hrs a day plus a phone in the room that connects to the front office. Front Desk was not aware of any problem with a "screeching" and would have deffinitely heard something when this guest's room was next to the office. We have never had this complaint before or since, but would like to have been told about it when this guest checked out so we could immediately test the smoke detector. Thanks for telling us now, thru this review process. We want our guests to be happy with their stay. People book our little place because of our low pricing for our location, our clean rooms, and our guest perks. We declare our room size and most of our guests are thrilled to have found us.
