“A Bottle of Wine, a loaf of bread.......”
Reviewed 5 October 2012

We had passed by this place several times than finally stopped in for their wine tasting. What a nice surprise. No pressure to hurry or buy. Very informative of not only the wines but what was going on locally. Had two plates with the wine tasting. The Gourmet Imported Olive plate and the Ultimate Crostini. If you are an olive lover this is very tasty. The Ultimate Crostini is the best! Black truffle Fillet Mignon strips with an olive tapande served on a crostini. Excellent!!!

“Classiest place in town”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

Walking the waterfront in Morro Bay one sees many, many fried fish establishments. We were very happy we walked a bit further and found Stax at the end of the street. Welcoming staff, a good guitarist playing in the corner and a really nice selection of wines and food made for a pleasant end to a long day of driving. The paninis were delicious - try the grilled veggie - but the standout was the tenderloin crostini. Perfectly cooked, tender slices of beef filet over a slice of parm-regg and arugula salad on a grilled and crisp crostini. So good we ordered a second plate! Full selection of $4 designer beers on the menu, as well.

“Friendly, knowledgeable staff”
Reviewed 2 August 2012

I stopped by on a whim to browse their wine selection. The staff was very friendly and patient. They took the time to explain the selections and let the wine sell itself. I did not order any food. However, I did notice that after the wine bar was more than 1/3 full, the staff seemed to be slightly overwhelmed.

“Great Wine”
Reviewed 27 July 2012 via mobile

This place is a gem. The service is great! Our waitress served us over 9 tastings when the purchase only includes 6. They also allow you to apply the $10 tasting fee towards a bottle of your liking.
