“Great value!”

Spent a couple of days here in April 2013 and I couldn't be more satisfied. Definitely got my money's worth. The place seems a bit older but it's well-maintained and cleaned. The beds also have magic fingers that work if you drop a quarter in the machine next to the bed.

The inn is located conveniently within walking distance to nice local cafes and restaurants.

Ann, who helped me at the front desk, is great - friendly and accommodating.

If I'm ever in the area again, I know where I'm staying :)

Good location within 5 minutes walk of the Embarcadero and can't beat the value for money. Unusual decor and no extras provided but if you're after a solid, budget option in Morro Bay this is the place to stay.

We spent one night at the Sundown Inn and were pleasantly surprised. The property is well-maintained and a good price for the area. The room was clean and comfortable. The owner was very helpful. The only drawback was there was no breakfast. We walked down the street for breakfast at a local café. The hotel is within walking distance of lots of great shops and restaurants, as well as THE sight to see, Morro Rock.

After trying to find vacancies at a reasonable price in the gorgeous Morro bay we found the Sundown Inn and took a chance. From the road it's little court, although very nicely kept in soft pinks and with lots of flowers, does look like a normal small motel. Lesson learnt: Never judge a book by its cover!
The owner was extremely helpful and welcoming, offering very good rates considering it was a Saturday afternoon check inn. (By 5pm the no vacancy sign was up- second lesson noted- the early bird catches the worm!)
When we entered the room it was such a pleasant surprise! The light wooden beamed roof gave an impression that the room was larger than what it was and filled it with light, the decor although very floral is absolutely gorgeous and quaint with little details like flowers over the mirrors, decorative scented items hanging in the bathroom and lots of cushions on the bed! The bed...our best nights sleep on our road trip so far! The walls are slightly thin I guess as some loud people were heard now and again...oh and the seagulls! A pleasant reminder that we are so near to the estuary/sea!
We walked down to the parade of shops and found a bar called roses- great views of the harbour from the bar and garlic fries were to die for!

The first time we stayed here, the person next door had a coughing fit in the middle of the night and kept us up. Be aware that the walls are very thin here. The last me we were here, we stayed two nights and everything was great. Quiet neighbors, clean room, very good. There is a smell that I can't quite identify when you walk in the room, but it is alleviated by opening windows. Recommended place to stay cheap!

The Sundown Inn was very well maintained and homey. The Owner's, Ta& Ann Lin were very welcoming and shared their knowledge of events for the fourth of July weekend. Room#15 was very clean and comfortable, I haven't sleep so well away from home in a long time. I'm sure a lot of people may be swayed to to stay in the newer modern accommodations in town, but for us we will seek out the Sundown Inn for our future stays!!

A friend and I stayed three nights at a very reasonable rate for the area. Although this property is typical of the older motor-court style, everything was clean and well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable. One bed was a Magic Fingers, which was a blast from the distant past for me and a new treat for my companion. Our room was really quiet at night (mid-July) so we slept well. We walked just a couple of blocks to get to a great coffeeshop (Top Dog), some cute shops, or the Embarcadero, and from there we could stroll out to Morro Rock (where we spent an enchanted time observing four pairs of mama-and-baby sea otters in the estuary, just yards from us). The owner, Ann, made us feel very welcome. We'll be back!
