we stopped in to grab a drink at the bar since it was not as crowded as the others along the bay, only 3 others were at the bar but the bartender did not even acknowledge our presence. We waited 5 minutes, no service so we walked out. The other woman sitting at the bar gave a frown face when we got up and left, she knew we did not get service and realized out disappointment

All of the other restaurants were either full or had stopped serving by 8:45 PM. the Libertine Pub was still serving, typical bar food and some very good clam chowder, 34 crafted beers on tap. That was a nice plus, they play very good music from vinyl albums. Nice touch, friendly bartender.

You probably wonder why you’re seeing 4/5 stars and then this 1 star for this place.

It’s because it’s a divided house- literally.

The front bar looked fun and the beer flows. The back house has a beautiful view, but it is through a dirty window with bird poo that has been there for awhile and a shredded banner to look through to the Morro Rock.

The bathroom was hideous (not seen till food had been ordered). Paper towels all over the floor and crooked sink with a pail underneath to catch the drips of a leaky sink and a smell that tells you the health dept was never here. The back room floor was reminiscent of movie theater floor.

We ordered an appetizer but instead our calamari was dripping in grease and water. The breading came off when you tried to dip it. We sat for 30 minutes before we could catch the waitresses attention to return it- we came very hungry. When she came we ordered onion rings in its place.

We never got the onion rings we just wanted our dinner so an hour after we ordered we flagged down the waitress and she told us ‘Oops!’ and had excuses about computer error as to why three couples had been served food who arrived an hour after us and we had not. They may be your four-start reviewers, but I think most likely it is beer people who sit in the front portion. Mac and Cheese was good, but the fish tacos were meh. They'd run out of bacon for the MacNcheese.

At this place it’s a crapshoot. They advertise beer but you can’t keep that many taps clean and clear. No one should try to have more than 10 beers on tap and to be fresh would have the rest in bottles. We got a taster- the beers had a layer of sour flavor. Our next beer choice was to get one in a bottle. The waitress explained a lot of her lateness on clogged non-working lines. We heard there was a difference selection of beer in the front room.

Do they want to be a beer place or a food place? The obviously can’t be both. What a shame! Such a view- such potential, but whoever is at the top of this place doesn’t give a rip. Too bad. The perfect soliloquy for this place would be from “On the Waterfront” when Marlin Brando said, “I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody.”

You could have been- you are on the water front, but you forgot about service and you neglected cleanliness.

I am not a regular beer drinker but i had the best beer in this bar. It as an orange flavor beer and I loved it. It's a BAR with bar regulars and early in the day drinkers. But they have a great selection. I was nonplussed with the food as were the rest of our group. Service in the bar is weak since there isn't a waitress.

We ended up eating at this place two nights of our Stay. The first night I had the Steak Tacos :) they were so good, my husband had the Philly cheese Steak Sandwich both nights. I highly recommend this place, even if you just want drinks and appetizers. Both nights we were there the place was packed, felt bad for the girls that were alone serving. These girls need more help. Even though they were swamped they both handled their tables well.
