“Unpleasant trip”
Reviewed 24 September 2012

The beds were clean but the rooms had a bad smell to them. The rooms were nothing what we expected. Rooms were very plain but at least they were clean. We were going to stay another night but decided to go home instead. If the rooms would have been nicer we would have stayed.

The best rates in Morro Bay and many other features: conveniently located one block from the Embarcadero restaurants and shops; friendly and helpful service; clean and well-maintained rooms; in-room refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker; fast, reliable wifi; and flat-screen HDTV with extensive channel selection. Although a Travelodge, the motel is family-owned and managed and has a customer-service orientation. I had special room requests which they were pleased to accommodate. I would unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to my friends and relatives.

Room Tip: Don't forget to request your AAA, AARP or Senior discount. If you're sensitive to smells, y...

We stayed one evening on the way south to LA. As opposed to the other reviews the gentleman who checked us in was friendly and showed us on a map where to find some restaurants. Also, as opposed to the other reviews we had a clean room (#34) with clean sheets and a bathroom that worked just fine. It's not a JW but for the price I certainly was not expecting it to be. One really good thing about this hotel is that you are just a few feet down the road from Stax - the best place to eat in Morro Bay. Free wifi, parking and we felt safe.

Judging from the other reviews it seems I dodged a bullet. I didn't have a terrible experience here. The room was clean and had been updated. The walls were definitely paper thin and I had to go to the front desk to get soap. It took me a while to check out since no one was at the front desk- it was 8 in the morning.
Overall, it's a good location but it seems hit or miss.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second level. I could hear the floor boards squeaking and I'm sure it disturbe...

This is, single-handedly, the worst place I've ever stayed in, including budget accomodation like youth hostels, hostels and hiker bunkhouses.
The motel is old, the rooms smell strongly, the whole place just emits an aura of unhealty dirtyness. To make matters worse, the place was "renovated" some time ago: There's a brand-new single lever faucet mounted to the cracked washing basin. Only the mounting holes do not fit properly, so it wobbles around. There is no storage space at all anywhere in the bathroom, not a single surface you could put your toiletries on. Of course, there's paint missing and two holes in the wall below the mirror where one once was. There might be a flatscreen TV, but it looks horrible out-of-place in a room that has not seen any care since the middle of the last century.

Add to that service "specialties" like not a single grown-up person being present for checkout, but an about ten-year-old girl looking at me with big eyes "You want a receipt?" She told me her mum would be there any minute. Twenty minutes later, I asked her to call her mum. She did. Five minutes later, she arrived - by car. I do not understand the reasoning behind leaving the front desk unattended in the hour between the end of breakfast time and the latest possible check-out time, as that's when most customers check out.

I think the fact that my girlfriend had a shower right before checking out to get the room of her tells all you need to know about this place: You should avoid it.

i put my card down to hold this room for my parents and they paid in cash when they checked out & the receptionist told them that my card would not be charged, but they charged it for the full amount anyways. when i called about their mistake, the lady i spoke to was very rude & did not want to help me. i will NEVER recommend for anyone to stay at this hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!
