This is a very dated hotel. Many small things could be reparied which would make it much more attractive. The breakfast starts at 0730 which is somewhat late for a business person. Summer rates are way to expensive. Dorns restaraunt is only too blocks and is by far the best in town. This is not a Best Western Plus. It's a quiet OK stay.

We were travelling down Highway 1 to LA for a late night flight back to Australia the next day. We were at Hearst Castle and picked up some sort of Hotel Guide. We were intending to stay at San Simeon and found it was just a motel stop on either side of the highway. I had read about Morro Bay and decided that would be a much nicer place to spend our last night. I found a voucher for the Best Western in the guide we had picked up and rang them from San Simeon. They only had a Seaview room available, I think it was $20-$25 extra - what the heck it was our last night, so we booked.
We arrived at reception and were greeted very warmly around 6pm.
The wine and cheese were being served, so we booked in and sat down to partake. There were 3 or 4 other couples there talking. We asked about where to eat and were given two alternatives, each saying they were the best. No matter. Drink a couple of glasses of wine, eat some cheese and crackers and nibbles (real cheese - wow).
We finished and made our way up to the room. It was well furnished and had a good bathroom. Went to the window and there was THE ROCK definitely a big wow. Yes we had seen it on the way in but was great to just be able to look at it.
The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows - big plus, we had bought out pillows from Aus but lost them on the way around.
We were a bit surprised at the no air conditioning but didn't need it.
We then left to find either of the two recommended restaurants on Embarcadero, one was Dorns, well we met the couple who recommended that walking back and it was closed. It was 8pm and we walked past a lot of closed places wondering if we were going to get to eat. We found a bar/grill open, hey it was Rose's the second recommended place. Basic but good food, good service, nice locals.
Back to the hotel, wished we had been there a bit longer to use the spa, great night's sleep. Breakfast was fine, we were used to the breakfasts by now. This had the added bonus of boiled eggs. Full, back to the room, take another look out of the window, collect bags and check out.
Again very friendly staff. Loaded the car, drove around a while looking around a bit and hit the road to LA. Good bye Morro Bay,
wish we had had longer to explore.
If we ever get the chance to come back will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: If you love the sea as we do it is certainly worth the extra for the seaview.

Old and dated and very loud. It was clean, and close to the town but the hotel shows a lot of use. Breakfast was good. I just felt like the staff on the night shift was young and not attentive to the amount of noise being generated by the guest and did nothing to stop it. It appeared that they were part of the problem.

Everything about my stay here is positive. My room was neat and clean, everything modern and nice. My room had an ocean view, third floor...with an amazing view of Morro Rock. There's a huge indoor hot tub and lots of parking. If you enjoy the outdoors, check out the Montana de Oro State Park a few miles down the coast. The staff here is young and super friendly and helpful. I would stay here anytime!

Room Tip: Try to get a third floor ocean view.

Rooms are roomy and clean. Staff nice and attentive. Very nice hot tub area. Wine and cheese in the evening and waffle machine breakfast in the morning. The beds were hard for both my daughter and me, and the pillows (all 8 of them!!) were most uncomfortable. For $110 a night, it's o.k.

Remember when life was slower and everyone was friendly? This is what I experienced this past weekend. The staff at the Inn were so nice and the pace of the location was just what anyone would enjoy coming from a hectic place. The Inn is arranged so that you have a city view or ocean view. We had the ocean view and it was beautiful. The rooms were nice, not fancy, but well maintained and clean. I'm ready to pack my bags and go again.

My wife and I stay at this hotel 2-3 times a year. It's an older hotel but so are all the other hotels in Morro Bay. We have found it to be clean and the staff very friendly. My only complaint is that they don't serve breakfast until 7:30, 6:30 would be much better for those who want to get an early start. You'll find golfing less than 5 min's away at Morro Bay G.C. and 15 min's at Dairy Creek G.C. Morro Bay GC has ocean and bay views from almost all the holes, a must play. If your into fishing Verg's Landing has trips daily, wether permitting, call and check there scheduals. They have all the gear to rent if you don't have any. After a day of golfing, shopping or sightseeing you my want to go to the historic Bay theater 2 1/2 blks away. After the movie 3 1/2 blks to the embarcadero for diner. Try the Hofbrau or Dutchman both really good.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are nice but city view rooms a little cheaper.
