“LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!!!”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

I called ahead for same day reservation on a Friday night w/minimal notice (around 4pm arrived 9pm-ish) We travel quite often as a military family, & can honestly say one of the best if not THE GREATEST for location & value. True as other reviews state that this is an under 5 star hotel but for the cost, FRIENDLY customer service & amenities available..This is a GEM in coastal California! AWESOME comfortable king bed, EXCELLENT water pressure (hottt water!!), free parking & wifi! What more could you ask for?.. & there's more!! Our king suite came with a fridge, micro, ceiling fan, working fire place (which we purchased a $4 log at reception desk, btw it jus makes me giggle reading other reviewers comments regarding the log costs, if they are looking for fancy shmancy than they can go pay for a 5 star hotel) as far as thin walls or noise? We are on 1st floor on a Friday night on a gorgeous weather day/night. It's super quiet inside & outside being this late (1am) & warm enough to walk around w/out a sweater in Feb. Such a treat to find such a quant stop along our way to visit the Redwoods! Also, I think the neg reviews are majority from complainers seeking special treatment.. If your kind, warm & friendly, chances are it will be returned no matter where in the world you are! Enjoy your travels!

The reason for writing this review is to recommend travelers NOT to stay here. I guess if you got a really cheap rate and wanted just a place to sleep, then it would be OK. Very outdated rooms, noisy wall heater, unfriendly staff. Take note: their website advertised an indoor hot tub, but this is not the case. There used to be one, but it is empty, in a boarded up room. Thinking of enjoying a nice fire? Be sure to either bring you own DuraFlame log or you can buy one at the front desk. The only positive is that the location is very close to the waterfront.

We stayed for one night here. The room was basic, clean and comfortable. What makes us remember it was that the manager took the trouble to recommend a local restaurant, the Otter Rock Café, for dinner, which we enjoyed very much.

Room Tip: There's no elevator, so if you have heavy luggage, ask for a ground floor room.

In my review earlier I mentioned the most awesome bar/restaurant/live music in Morro Bay but I could not remember the name. It's OTTER ROCK CAFE at 855 Embarcadero, right on the bay. Check it out, a blast. As a bonus there's a duo playing music, one on acoustic guitar and one on electric. May be a Father/Son duo. They were really good, everyone singing along, got the young bartender to come out and sing "These Boots Are Made For Walking" which was a treat. My wife and I had a wonderful time.

Got such a good price while booking room during the drive from Sonoma to Morro Bay that I did not expect a great experience. Surprise! Great rate, huge room, view, clean, smelled good (unlike Motel 6 in Rohnert Park the night before) , all amenities we needed, walked to Bay and found the greatest Bar/Restaurant/Live Music, and comfortable bed!

Room Tip: It's a three story hotel. The 3rd story rates are higher because of a better view, but too many...

Stayed here on a Friday night. There are two very local bars, one of which is very loud until just after 12.The other is an Irish bar called Legends, and is well worth a visit.
The rooms are in need of updating, but are clean with comfy beds.I was sitting at the table writing an e-mail with the window open, and i could hear the Sea-lions barking in the bay.

We came in very late and Keith set us up quickly and was very helpful. The room was nice for this price range and there was even a fireplace in the room. I'm not sure if we were allowed to use it, but it was still very cozy.
