“Mount Shasta Wilderness Road”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

What a gorgeous area. Road up the mountain was beautiful. Lots of places to hike, bike or just have a relaxing picnic in the forest. Take your own food and water.

Information Center was not very helpful at all. When I asked where the road was up to mountain, the lady had no idea what I was talking about. She directed up to Lake Siskiyou which lead to this dangerous narrow park road with no turnaround -- we were hopelessly lost and finally found a place wide enough to turn around. Town is beautiful with all the services you need.

Follow Everett Memorial Highway up the mountain.

“Great Strength ~ Strong Medicine”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Why are so many people drawn here? And for reasons they don't quite understand. As if the mountain was not inspiring enough, But, when you get the opportunity to learn what this mountain means to the Native Americans of this area, Well, it's just SUPERB... Very Strong Medicine.
Teachings of the Mountain: How after death, a soul travels to Mount Shasta before ascending to the sky. The view from the back side ( Being in a position North of the mountain and looking South) WOW... Check our pix of these exact views and a close up of the "Teachings" from a story board placed by USPS.

“Breathtakingly beautiful!”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

LOVED our visit here. We hiked the upper and lower rim of Panther Meadows trail which was easy for folks with young children who want to expereience a great hike with natural beauty, running water and gorgeous views. Outhouse facilities only. Bring plenty of water, snacks or pack a lunch to eat on one of many picnic tables.
