“Pleasant Wooded Retreat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

My husband and stayed here for one night while on a week long scenic road trip. We chose this place based on its wooded location and Tripadvisor reviews. We did not make reservations ahead of time and booked our room as walk-ins.

The woman at reception was awesome. Being that we stayed during a shoulder/off season, we pretty much had our pick of types of rooms available. She went through what was what and the pricing and helped us decide on a room. We booked a "Woodland King Jacuzzi," which turned out to be perfect for us. We did have the choice to book a lake view room, but chose not to since we arrived at nightfall and would be leaving the next morning. Being in a wooded area (don't leave food in the car!) during bear season was enough of a thrill.

Our room was on one end of a triplex unit. It was located just a short drive down the road from the main lodge. I loved how it felt like were were in the middle of the woods, but not isolated and lonely. The room itself was quite large and had plenty of space for two people. The furnishings were average for what you expect for the price. There was lots of drawer space, good closet space, and I liked having the sink/mirror area outside of the toilet/shower room. There was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee/tea set up as well. The Wifi was free and fast. The bed was a comfortable firmer pillowtop and the linens were nice. I did use the jacuzzi to relax after a long day of driving, and the jets worked great. Plenty of towels too.

The only "problem" we had was an issue with either some of the electric outlets or maybe it was the appliances themselves. The coffee maker outlet didn't work, so we moved it across the room. Also, the hair dryer died after a minute. I was able to plug my own hair dryer in the same outlet and use it with no further issues.

Overall: Yes, I would stay here again. No regrets not having a lake view room since daylight revealed that the lake is actually down a steep slope. Even lake view rooms get only a glimpse of the lake below through the woods. Whatever you do, don't eat at the resort's restaurant despite the "guest discount", it was horrible.

We did not stay at the resort but we played golf and ate at the bar. Nearly every hole had an amazing view. It is a tough course for beginners but I would love to play it again. Next time we will stay at the resort. Planning a reunion here in a year or so.

We recently spent 2 nights at the resort and played a round of golf on a road trip heading north. We have stayed here in the past and enjoyed it. We had a good price on the room. Once the summer rush is over and the kids are back in school discounts are available through other sites or as part of their golf packages. The weather was still warm, almost too hot in early September. We stayed in a cabin. It was modern and very comfortable. Many places we stay seem to be set up for one person-one chair, one reading lamp. This room had 2 comfortable chairs and a second reading lamp was available in the closet. The sink and vanity area was large and outside the batroom itself allowing two people to get ready at the same time. The room was very spacious, with room to move around, not cramped as many rooms can be. The bed was very comfortable, good TV, small frig and microwave, large closet. The setting amongst the pines with the lake a short walk away was perfect. The deer are very comfortable here and come out of the pines and cross the little street within feet of you in the morning or evening.. Though we enjoyed the golf course in the past, we probably won't play it again. It is beautiful amongst the pines and the deer are prevalent, but the course is getting a little too long for my husband and a little too tight (particularly holes 1 and 10) for me as we age. If those are not factors for you, the course is grea.t

My husband and I recently shared a 2 bedroom chalet with friends at the Mt Shasta Resort and were thoroughly impressed with both luxury accommodations and a fabulous location! Nestled in the trees along the shore of Lake Siskiyou, we enjoyed peaceful beauty and comfortable, clean and nicely appointed accommodations. The airy living space had a gas fireplace, cozy couches, a flat panel TV and big windows which opened up to a deck with a beautiful lakeside view. The kitchen & dining area had everything we needed to make us feel at home and the bedrooms/bathrooms were tastefully decorated and the king sized bed ultra comfortable! The golfers in the group were thrilled with the proximity to a fabulous golf course and the hikers in the group equally thrilled with the beautiful hiking trail along the lake. In summary, we loved everything about our stay there and will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a lake view!

We are timeshare owners, but for this trip we booked single night stays to allow a road trip vacation. When we landed at our Lakefront Chalet, I was tempted to reschedule our next leg of the trip. This chalet is so perfectly designed!! Very romantic, lots of storage space, privacy and lovely furniture and flat screen tv. The lake was right below and the trees make you feel as though you in a forest! Great hikes available right outside the door! We will definitely come back and stay longer!!

Just spent the weekend at Mt. Shasta Resort. It is a beautiful setting and the staff was friendly. We stayed in the cabins by lake Siskyou, which are nicely nestled in the tall pines. But the cabins are worn & dated with squeaky, undulating floors. Overall, it was comfortable, but for the price ($250/night for a two bedroom) I was not impressed. In summary, 5-star prices, a 4 star setting with 3 star accommodations. Unfortunately, there aren't good "higher-end" options in Mt. Shasta that we know of. But I will keep looking.

Room Tip: See if you can get a chalet with a lake view - there are a few of them.

We rented a Woodland Room for 2 nights during a big reunion held elsewhere. Our room was at the end of the drive through the Chalets cabiins and Woodland 3 plexes. It was lovely, quiet and restful back there with no traffic noise. The Woodland rooms are attached to other Woodland rooms- 3 per set. They have no kitchens, but are roomy. They have a big closet and lots of drawer space. We never heard noise from the rooms on each side of us even though there were children in the other rooms. We took a photo walk at Lake Siskiyous one morning. We did not have much time to use all of the facilities. But we saw people golfing, playing tennis, hauling kayakes and hiking. The restaurant was a disappointment; otherwise, we found the resort to be a wonderful place. We'd enjoy coming back with extended family and using the recreational facilities available.

Room Tip: Woodland room 218 is at the end of the road. It has another Woodland on each side. Perhaps you would...
