Our first mistake was in thinking that a chalet "near the lake" at a "resort" that boasts "lakeside" chalets would afford access to the lake. Unfortunately, there are no real views of the lake, even from the "lakeside" chalets, except through many trees. There is no lake access and no point from which one can even view the lake. The picnic areas are small plots next to the parking areas, far from most of the units, and nowhere near any alleged lake views. The "chalet" was very clean and quite spacious. Many windows do not open, and the "fireplace" was a gaslog on a timer that afforded no heat whatsoever. The kitchen dishes were adequate, but the cooking capability was below expectation (no broiler pan, two of the four electric burners inoperable, toaster frequently did not work). The plastic glasses for the bathroom and sandpaper tissues were very cheap touches for this fairly expensive place. Our queen sized bed mattress and box spring were extremely low quality and very unsupportive. We requested a bed board or another, firmer mattress, but our request was ignored without apology. The deck on the front of the chalet overlooked the parking lot, driveway, and other chalets. We were next to the manager's building, and the housekeepers' chatting outside of the building, coupled with the noise from the busy road behind the chalet made for a very unpeaceful setting. The decks are supplied with uncomfortable plastic chairs.

As disappointing as the chalet was, the golf course experience was extraordinary. The views are spectacular, and even though play was slow because there was a large tournament and another large group playing, we quite enjoyed the course. The proshop personnel were apologetic and very pleasant. We also enjoyed a very reasonably-priced dinner in the restaurant, which was staffed with charming and attentive personnel.

When the front desk clerk asked how our stay was, she was unprepared for our comments and ungracious and unapologetic in her response.

We stayed in a one bedroom lakeview chalet. The chalets are located several hundred feet down and across the road from the main building which contains the golf pro shop, check-in desk, restaurant and bar. As someone else noted, it was not clear from the road markings where we were suppose to check-in.

Each chalet consists of two guest accommodations which are suites. Our one bedroom chalet had a large, separate living room (with gas log fireplace), a good sized bedroom with king bed, a dining area, and a full kitchen (but no dishwasher). Our room(#123) had a good sized private deck with a table and 4 chairs and had a view (with some trees) of the lake. The room was very quiet. Someone noted a problem getting ice. While our refrigerator had ice in it, there was also an ice machine, a vending machine, and several newspaper racks at a service building at the entrance to the chalets.

We had a delicious dinner in the resort restaurant. There were very few customers in the restaurant so we had no problem getting one of the several window tables with stunning sunset views of Mt. Shasta. The restaurant had a very extensive menu and was "reasonably" priced.

I highly recommend this resort to those staying the the Mt. Shasta area.

We had a great time unwinding here. The Chalets are huge, the area is quiet, and the views are spectacular. The staff was extremely cordial and friendly on our arrival, and remained so during the duration of our stay. The restaurant served excellent food. We did elect to buy most of our grocies at the local grocery store across I-5 in Mt. Shasta city at Ray's, and cook in the well stocked kitchen. Ray's had a great selection of meats for dinner, including fresh marinated steaks and stuffed pork chops. The chalet pictures on the hotel website do not do them justice. We felt like we were in a well appointed condo, but in the middle of the woods. Waking up in the morning and taking a walk in the cool air with views of Mt. Shasta and Lake Siskiyou was absolutely wonderful! There was a hot tub available, but it was broken for the first 3 days we were there. The staff did explain the reason (hard to get parts way up there), but it was fixed before we left. We also took the Shasta Dinner Train excursion (with the Muder Mystery). That was a barrel of fun and definately worth the money. The food was great (we had the Beef Wellington) and the Murder Mystery was a riot! The drive there from the hotel was about a half hour and was a pretty drive. I guess the best compliment we can give them is that we look forward to coming back and staying there again. Thanks Mt. Shasta Resort!

Mt. Shasta Resort was just an overnight stop for us. We didn't take advantage of the golfing or tennis. Our chalet was in the trees. Other guests went to the beach down the road. Many families seem to enjoy the water. Beautiful setting. Basic room but larger than most. Outside sink and counter. Quiet area. We did enjoy the lounge in the clubhouse. They served some food from the restaurant. Very good.

The Mount Shasta Resort is a lovely place to stay - we stayed in a beautiful two-bedroomed chalet which was immaculate, extremely spacious and very comfortable. We also had a large deck out front with table and chairs.

The resort does not have an outdoor pool, but we drove round to the other side of the lake (about a five minute drive) and spent the day on the beach. Swimming in the lake was great fun and you can hire tubes, kayaks and peddle boats there.

There is a nice restaurant and lounge at the resort although it was quite a long walk from our chalet. The view of Mount Shasta from the restaurant was spectacular. All the staff we encountered were very friendly.

We would definitely stay here again if in the area. I do agree with a previous posting, however, that an outdoor pool would make it even better.

We just returned from a trip to Mount Shasta Resort. Our initial experience was not the best. We were unfortunately greeted by a not so friendly clerk, and when I questioned why we did not get a chalet with a view as I had requested (and thought I had paid for), she just laughed at me. Once we got over the initial rudeness, the trip improved. The chalets were roomy and clean, but did not have a homey feel. It felt like any other hotel. I expected a different atmosphere for a chalet. The chalets are located next to Siskyou Lake, but in order to access the "good beach" you have to go through the campground on the opposite side and pay a small entrance fee. Not much to do other than golf and swim at the beach. The patios are positioned on the front of the non-view chalets, so you don't feel as if you can sit out and enjoy without being watched. We most likely won't go back, but if you're brave give it a try. You may have a better experience. I guess my expectations were just too high.

We stayed at Mt Shasta Resort for a long weekend. We stayed in a 1 bedroom chalet. Very nice and clean. It was like having our very own cabin in the snow. With the special pricing offered during the ski season, it was definitely worth every penny! We will definitely stay there again...In fact, I can't wait until next winter...
