“Great breakfast spot”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

Stopped in for breakfast on way to Palm desert. Great service and great food. They also have a bunch of beer choices that I would like to try. There was also a little old man playing music. The waitress seemed tired of him but for us it was great. Wish they opened earlier we had to pass by several other times because it was well before 8am.

“nice place to get-away for lunch”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

Called ahead to ensure they were open due to the recent fire. They were. Inquired about the beers on tap. Great news they have Firestone IPA and Paradise Pale Ale. Both are good. They also have at least 20-25 bottle beers from all over the world. Hard to imagine they sell that many but the waitress said they do sell a reasonable amount. Business had been booming due ot the many hundreds of firefighters around. It was somewhat quiet when we arrived about 3 p.m. Apparently just between the noon & evening busy times. Food was excellent as usual. I had one of the 1/2 lb. burgers with fries. I like the fries as they are the firm, crispy kind. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium well--done all the way through). My wife had the Club Sandwich on wheat. The bread is absolutely excellent. Nice thick slices so it doesn't fall apart. It comes with choice of one of 3-4 sides. She chose the crispy fries. The owner was in the kitchen doing his quality control check. He is a pleasant person. The last time here we had the opportunity to chat with him as we ate at the bar. We definitely will be back when we want to take a short 30 mile drive from Palm Desert for a nice lunch & a couple of beers. Then off to the Anza Dairy Queen for dessert. :)

“Lousy service”
Reviewed 26 June 2013

Passed by a few times. Decided to stop by and check it out. Mid-morning so it was slow. Got a table and waited and waited. One waitress was facing me at the bar but was talking to the couple of regulars (I presume). Another walked right behind me. She brought out a coffee pot out and asked if a customer wanted his coffee warmed up.
No one brought me a cup of coffee (a cafe?). No one brought me a menu. Strange. Walked out after five minutes before I said something nasty. Too bad one Dot is the worst rating.

“Great Cafe.”

Rode up from the desert and stopped in for breakfast. Service and food were excellent. We enjoyed the patio, and they had live music going all day. Great place to hang out. Will return.

We stopped in on a site seeing tour. We were looking for a quick bite to eat and didn't want any sort of chain. We were so pleasantly surprised. This place is like stepping back in time. From the counter, the shake maker and all the other deco it's like eating back in the 60s. The food was good and the portions are huge. Those with smaller appetites may want to split a meal. The service was spectacular even though they were very busy. They also have tables inside and out. We really enjoyed this place and founds it perfect for what we needed.
