“Below average - You can do way better”
Reviewed 25 May 2013

Have stayed here multiple times (not by choice) on business in different rooms.

PROS:
-Maids are nice and attentive.
-King Bed is comfortable, different pillow firmness
-Keurig machines in room

CONS:
-Overpriced for what you get
-No restaurant or gym on site.
-Front door requires keycard after 10pm
-Free breakfast is crap and ends at 9am sharp.
-Business center is a kiosk that charges $1/page printed
-Most rooms are falling apart with shoddy construction (squeaks, cracks, leaks)
-Jacuzzis are old and stained.
-Towels and sheets are old (some have holes)
-Dry cleaning/personal laundry requests must be made online
-WiFi is open and unsecured
-Have to get a suite instead of regular room if you want nicer shower
-No local or sports channels on TV
-Windows in suite do not close all the way - lots of street noise bleeds in
-No shuttle service
-Some loud/questionable types of people nearby during evening at neighboring area
-Free cookies at front desk are usually all out (if Chocolate Chip) or Raisin cookies which nobody likes.

Room Tip: Get a suite - NOT facing El Camino Real street if possible. Avoid second floor ones. In fact, avoid...

The rooms are pretty big,
The staff was OK, the facility's OK (it looks like the bath tab needed more attention)
The breakfast was very basic.
bottom line - nothing to write home about.. ( :

Good Points
----------------

1) Excellent King Size Bed - competitive with top chains. I slept really well.
2) Clean and Attractive Exterior - Nice to not be driving up to something that looks bad.
3) Competitive Price - good deal
4) Friendly Front Desk Staff - nice staff on checkin

Weaker Points
------------------

A) Wireless LAN. From my room (101 on ground floor) I had a lot of trouble with their wireless LAN. Weak signal, problems with DNS server. Generally poor/cheap implementation. That was a real hassle as it forced me to spend a lot of time finding a Starbucks to get connected.

B) Breakfast. The hotel provides the normal sort of free breakfast one finds at such places, adequate but not exactly festive. I am a breakfast guy and I like real silverware, cooked to order eggs, etc.. So... the problem is something the hotel can't really be blamed for, but was real for me nevertheless => Mountain View and Sunnyvale have become breakfast desserts. All the former 24 hour places that specialized in breakfast are gone and have not been replaced with anything other than Burger King. After several days I found that I had to drive all the way to California Ave in Palo Alto to find a good breakfast. Ie: a lively atmosphere, real plates, real silverware, good food and coffee.

C) There laundry room has some sort of odd arrangement in which you have to go back and forth to the front desk to get a key every time you go in. They also don't have soap. Not very usable. Fortunately, there are a lot of well run laundromats in the area. I used one around the corner on El Camino and San Bernardo in the shopping center with Safeway. This place had the advantage that you could get coffee at the little Starbucks Kiosk inside Safeway (while the clothes washed) and have a nice cold beer at the bar inside Casa Lupe (while the clothes dried). There was also a Round Table pizza available.

D) They were also a little stingy on the toiletries. On the 3rd day I had used up the dinky shower jel and put the empty on the sink prominently. In a better hotel, the maid would have replaced it with the new one. In this establishment the maid simply pushed it to one side.... Be sure to bring your own shower jel.

The key points for this hotel are: 1.) Good staff: Mrs. Mercedes is the best front desk attendants. 2.) Average breakfast: no waffle machine and chocolate machine is not there anymore 3.) Good location (901 E. El Camino Real) for people travelling on business nearby Palo Alto, Mountain View, Cupertino. 4.) Free Parking and Free Wifi (not that good, but it is ok). 5.) Big rooms with micro-oven, fridge and jacuzzi. 6.) Finally, the price: paid average of US$169,00 per night staying mid Aug 2012. I think it is ok if you compare lots of hotels located in El Camino that are very, very bad and charges your more than $100 dollar per night. This is going to be my option when travelling to Palo Alto/CA.

I travel to Mountain View often on business and hadn't stayed at the Crestview until recently. I've stayed there twice recently now so feel it's fair to comment. The best things about it are location relative to Mountain View businesses and rooms are a good size. Other than that it's not great. They allow smoking in the building, not many hotels do that anymore. And despite having a non-smoking room, I could smell it and it was nasty. They did move me when I mentioned it. They have tried to update it but the large jacuzzi tub is still there and kind of creepy. I also didn't like that they left the back door open, presumably to get air but anyone can walk in without their key card. Not good.

Breakfast, while included, is bad.

Overall, you can do better though there are not nearly enough hotels in the area so book ahead!

I stayed at the CrestView for two nights on a business trip. I was fortunate that my company managed to find a room at the CrestView Hotel, when most hotels in the area were booked to capacity. The room was a very pleasant surprise. Reasonably modern, spacious, well equipped and comfortable, and very clean.
Breakfast was adequate. The hotel does not have a gym, which would have been a nice addition to complete the package.
I have learned the hard way that while a ~$180/night price tag may seem expensive for most areas, it is not for the outrageously expensive Silicon Valley. It was definitely worth it.

The three things I look for in a hotel, Price, Location, and good rooms. The Crestview has all three. Yes, it's a bit dated, but nothing like it's sister hotel Pacific Inn down the street. I've been staying here on business for the past ten years! Rooms will range between $89-120 which is good for the area. Rooms are clean,(ask for a remolded one)beds comfortable, nice big screen t.v. I always get the Deluxe room which is $109 and has separate room with kitchen and living room and t.v. The basic room is nice too. This hotel is walking distance to many restaurants, stores, and most important, five min to freeway. Good selection of breakfast foods which is included. Friendly staff, good parking , I've never had a bad experience here. They have been remolding it for awhile now, I think one room at a time on a yearly bases, but they are getting there...

Room Tip: Request a remolded room. You will be much happier. They have them in double and deluxe. If you make...
