This company is a FRAUD! My husband's grandfather flew blimps in the 1920'& 30's and so it was his dream to go for a ride with this company. Today is our grandson's 11th birthday and for a surprise the two of them were going to fly today. The fee was pretty pricey but we thought its a once in a lifetime thing so we sacrificed alot an when we made the reservation 5 days ago our credit card was charged immediately. Last night we get a call its canceled and during the night we get an e-mail the are out of business. They say they will get refunds out by check. I will be surprised if I ever see even a penny back. I just feel like they knew they were taking our money. Horrible experience!

First, there are only two zeppellin companies that give rides to the public. Here in the SF Bay and the other is in Germany. The SF BAy area is like your in dream. The Zeppelin cruises at a slow 59mph, and only at 1,000 feet, this give you a great, dreamy feeling as you cruise over the bay, SF financial district towers (just a few hundred feet above them), the GG bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island and the bay bridge. It's INCREDIBLE!!

We took the one hour tour leaving from Oakland. There is a two hour tour leaving from Moffet field (Palo Alto area), I don't know about the tours leaving Moffet, but I'd definitely recommend the Oakland tour.

Each seat is by a huge picture window and get this, some of the windows open and yuo can stick your head out and take pics!! The cockpit is open (no walls) and you can chat with the pilot. Lotsa fun.

This is Five Star experience. I'd recommend it for any special occasion. It's a bit pricey, but well worth a lifetime of memories.

My wife and I took a 6:05pm 'sunset' flight with AirshipVentures from Oakland International Airport on October 9th, the same week the Blue Angels were in town for Fleet Week. With the Blues practice flight schedules, airspace over the Bay was closed until late in the day. Ours was the second flight that afternoon.
--A fog bank was just outside the Golden Gate when 12 of us (the maximum capacity) boarded the airship, two at a time, as arriving passengers disembarked two at a time, thus maintaining the necessary ballast in the cabin. Once boarded and in our seat belts, we climbed up to about 1,200 feet over the Alameda estuary heading north toward the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza. The pilot informed us we could take off our seat belts and move around the cabin without worrying about the center of gravity. The sun set as we crossed over the Toll Plaza and turned toward Yuerba Buena/Treasure Islands offering a clear view of the old and new Bay bridges. As one can see in the accompanying photos, the windows are big, including a panorama window at the rear of the cabin. A restroom is also at the rear starboard side of the cabin.
--The pilot informed us she was taking us across the Bay to Angel Island and Tiburon and returning east of Alcatraz then along the City waterfront so we could view the City with it's lights coming on as night fell. Although there are two windows with smaller opening windows at the front of the cabin through which guests could take unobstructed photos, I took photos through the plexiglass window by my seat, thus the reflections in the photos.
--The flight was fairly quiet, the two engines above us on either side of the airship moving us along at about 35 mph. A third prop is mounted on the tail of the airship, providing additional control and propulsion.
As we approached the Bay Bridge, we turned eastward and flew parallel to the bridge, crossing the Toll Plaza at the east end of the bridge, then turned south for our return to the Oakland International Airport.
--The four passengers at the front of the cabin were instructed to move to the rear and get off (two-by-two) as bags of lead shot were put aboard through the front cabin door by the ground crew. The lead shot is used to maintain ballast and was put aboard as we got off the airship as we were the last flight of the day before the airship returned to it's home base at Moffitt Field across the bay. The airship took off and we were taken by vcan back to the Holiday Inn where we started earlier in the evening. Enjoyed a complimentary glass of champagne with the group before departing our separate ways.
--All in all it was a fantastic trip offering a unique experience not available but in three locations around the world. In addition to this location, airships tours are offered in Hamburg, Germany and in Japan. If you have the opportunity fly with Airship Ventures, go for it.
