This is a very nice coarse and probably the best deal in the Bay Area.  It's an easy coarse to walk, some very challenging holes, but be ware of playing in the late afternoon.....it can get windy.  Included is a nice pro shop and 19th hole.

I enjoyed my twilight round at Shoreline. I am by no means a good golfer and after 35 years of playing the game off and on, I'm going to be "Break 100 on a Good Day" kind of golfer. But I do love the game and would rank Shoreline as one of the nicest courses I ever played.

I was out-of-town and without clubs, but the club pro was very supportive of me getting a round in. I called the gent I paired up with earlier in the week at Sunken Gardens and treated him to a round of golf. The twilight rate is a bargain -- just $25. The club rental ($20) was reasonable and they gave me a very nice set of Tour Edge clubs.

Shoreline is a links course. They play very long, have lots of bunkers but have less trees than a typical course. It was a very challenging course -- made even harder by the wind. But the scenery was beautiful and the course was in great condition.

I played one of my best rounds ever, and was in position to break 100 until sunset cut our round short by a few holes.

Their practice and driving range are excellent as well.

Michaels Restaurant, located nearby, is truly outstanding. Be sure to eat there before or after your round.

I have always loved Shoreline Golf Links. It is a really nice layout, always kept in great condition, and you can watch pelicans dive for fish in the lake along the 10th hole while you play. Really nice.

But unfortunately, our recent experience there was marred but a very rude and ignorant marshal, who felt that the golf course was all about him, and not the golfers who payed $70 to play the golf course.

This marshal interrupted our foursome on the front nine while we were still putting out to tell us to hurry it up, even thought there was no one pushing us or waiting to hit their approach shots to the green.

When we told the marshal that it was improper to interrupt us during a tournament to tell us to hurry up before we putted out (especially since we were not holding anyone up) he then threatened us by saying that he would call the pro shop and force us to skip playing a hole.

This guy was a real piece of work and obviously does not belong on the golf course. Therefore, I would suggest you may want to skip Shoreline Golf Links for your recreation golf until these guys figure it out and understand who their paying customers are.
