“Very Nice Updated Condo at the Silverado Resort”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

My wife and I just returned from our 3 night stay at the Silverado Resort. We rented a fantastic recently remodeled Premium VIP 1 bedroom, 1 bath condo unit #381 through Napa Vacation Condo Rentals. The condo was recently remodeled and everything looked new. The separate bedroom had a king sized bed which was extremely comfortable. The living area had a sofa, fireplace, and table with 4 chairs. The unit had a full kitchen with dishwasher, stove, oven, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, and even a small electric wine cooler. The unit was perfect for 2 people, I wouldn't recommend more than 2 people staying there.

The unit allowed us full access to all the amenities of the Silverado Resort. The resort has many swimming pools, golf course, and a very good restaurant. The resort is located in a country like setting and only about a 5 to 10 minute drive to downtown Napa and 15 to 20 minutes to some of the best wineries in the world.

All in all we had a great time staying here and would highly recommend it to others looking for a relaxing time in the northern California wine country.

If you have nostalgia for T111, that plywood siding that tries to look like wood (and fails), or for your first apartment from the 70s, then you'll be right at home here.

We booked a Cottage one-bedroom suite, and it was just like our first apartment, right down to the bathroom being half in the bedroom and half in its own room. And we should have known we were in trouble when we heard this intermittent buzzing, and found one of the sliding glass doors was making the noise. But we were tired, and so we just opened the door a crack to stop the buzzing and took a nap.

Or tried to...the ladies next door were having a lively conversation, and as our friend Jane says, "The walls were so thin you could hear your neighbor change his mind."

Then came the shower - theirs, not ours, altho the water noise was so loud it was hard to tell whose room.

As we were finally dropping off, we heard more voices, then hammering, then sawing. Thru rock, from the sound of it. When we asked the workmen to stop they said "It won't be long..." It was too long.

Note to hotel staff: if you have to do noisy renovations Do Not Book The Room Next Door. It's cruel.

We would have moved but we were late for a party. As we were dressing I noticed beetles crawling up the curtains (not the ones we had had open a crack) - I scooped them into a kleenex and flushed them. When we returned from dinner and party there were more beetles crawling on the curtains. Took a picture, hope they didn't hitchhike home with us.

We thought "Fancy resort - let's go to the bar and have a drink! It must be better there" It may have been a fancy resort once, but now it looks like Best Western took over and sold all the furniture. And on a beautiful summer night the place was almost deserted. Apparently most people are smarter than we...

The final insults: No key to the mini bar. And the worst - when we had the Do Not Disturb sign up, some one came in and left a form letter (about all the benefits of our AAA discount, for Pete's sake!) in the kitchen. Yup, while we were there with the DND up.

So go to Napa, it is fantastic. But stay someplace else.

Room Tip: be prepared for paper thin walls in the cottages

Helpful staff greeted me. Cool old bar with humongous drinks and a view of the golf course. Two great golf courses on site. Obviously, close to dozens of outstanding wineries. Be careful what room you get - some of them are pretty dated and tiny.

We had a great experience at Silverado with our family of 4. The room was new and remodeled and had a great layout and design. Room 283 and 284 (connected with a full kitchen) and separate master room and kids 2 double beds room both with full baths. The initial room they attempted to give us however was appalling. It was a residential community condo a mile or more away from the main hotel. Built in the 80's the décor and architecture of the condo was old, smelly and disgusting. They referred to it as a cottage! I am really stunned that they even offered it to us, and had us waste our time to drive there, call them, wait for them to call us back while in the stinky condo and then drive back, hoping that they found something better. They definitely found something better, and I think it was damage control because it was a remodeled real "cottage" and it was beautiful. My rating is not considering the hassle of the first room, so please ask for something like room 284. The food at the pool is awful and needs to be improved, but the facilities were great.

Stayed in one of their 2bedroom condos and although it was a little dated it was comfortable and clean. They offer good rates with golf. The women spent the day at their spa while the men golfed. Top rate staff throughout.

Beautiful golf courses, great location, condos (updated ones) are very nice. Staff was very nice and helpful. Only negative was no beverage/cart service! Food service was also good, but didn't offer anything other that bar menu after 2:00 or 3:00.

Silverado Resort and Spa is a luxury resort in the heart of the world-famous Napa Valley Wine Country. Whether you come to the Northern California area for relaxation, adventure or business, find it here. Located just an hour north of San Francisco, Silverado is tucked away from the city while still being close to the Bay Area action. The soothing, full-service spa sets the stage for relaxing comfort, offering massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and more. But there's more to Silverado Resort and Spa than just soothing stays. Two PGA championship golf courses, which are overseen by World Golf Hall of Fame member, lead golf analyst for NBC Sports, and resort co-owner Johnny Miller, 13 lighted tennis courts, and biking and hiking trails on-site ensure excitement at every corner. And thanks to its Napa Valley Wine Country location, it's all close to more than 400 wineries. The fine and casual dining within the resort's restaurants pair nicely with local wines. The elegant styling and picturesque Northern California views makes it one of the most sought after wedding venue destinations as well. Or you can simply take it all in from the patio of the newly opened Market and Bakery, strategically situated at the front of our historical Mansion, while you enjoy a coffee and pastry in the morning or a glass of Napa Valley wine while sitting at the edge of our fire pit in the evening. It's all designed to ensure the authentic Napa Valley Wine Country stay for any and all visitors. ... more   less
