We have stayed at La Residence several times in the last few years and have had nothing but fantastic experiences.... of special note are the staff (especially Alana and Graham) who were always willing and wanting to go above and beyond.

When we started looking for a special place for our wedding party and family to stay, we contacted La Residence and what they did for us was amazing.... We ending up buying out the entire inn and they could not have been nicer. They truly made it feel like it was "our home"... from special meals to always being there for us (even late into the evening)...

Summary: A truly wonderful hidden treasure in wine country, staffed by amazing people, and a perfect fit for the romantic weekend all the way to a family reunion / wedding / gathering.

La Residence is a larger inn that is just off of the main highway. There is one restaurant within walking distance and Yountville with the many outstanding restaurants is about a 10-minute drive from the inn. The Inn is owned by the Hall family, who produce execellent wines. The weekend rates can sometimes be high (over $300 or $400), but because of its location, this seems to be the going rate in the area. There is a free wine and cheese happy hour at 6p and breakfast is included. The breakfast consists of pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices, hot coffee and tea. There is no hot breakfast. The bed is very comfortable and the room is large. All rooms seem to have a fireplace, large bathrooms, and sitting areas either inside and/or outside. There is free wireless Internet service if you ask for the code. The staff is friendly, but for the most part, leave you alone. There is a small pool in the middle of the property and a hot tub hidden in the back of the property. This place is probably better for adults than families with younger children.

Room Tip: Join the Hall winery club to receive a discounted rate on the room and excellent wine

My husband and I got married in Vegas, which was a fabulous moment in our life. We then hired a car and drove to Los Angeles and then up the West Coast. It was fantastic but a bit hectic as we stopped by just for a couple of days in LA, one night in Santa Barbara, one night in Carmel, 2 nights in San Fransisco - we were pretty tired and were longing for a place to relax, read a book, eat well and drink some good wine! We were also looking forward to get some sun as it was pretty chilly in San Fransisco and for anybody who is looking to discover the West Coast by Road 1, I wouldn't advise to travel in June as it is pretty foggy all the way! (we were expecting a lovely weather in Santa Barbara and instead it was very cloudy and a bit cold... during this period of time the sun only shines between 6pm and 8pm ( not joking). Their summer really starts in August up to October.
So, we drove from SF to Napa Valley which took a good hour and we arrive in this dreamland - sunshine and fantastic views over millions of vineyards, pretty amazing.
La Residence was exactly what we needed, a very pieceful place with fountains, swimming pool, jacuzzi, lovely terrace for breakfast, wine and cheese tasting every day.
It was amazing and we highly recommend it to everyone wanting to visit Napa.

We absolutely loved La Residence! The beautiful ground, fabulous happy hour featuring wonderful hors d'oeuvres and premium Hall wine couldn't be nicer. The early morning walks and hot tub on the property is rejuvenating. We had a lovely king size bed with oh so comfy linens. We can't wait to return to La Residence the next time we are in Napa!

Setting was very, very nice, as was the staff, but the road noise and the really pungent odor in our room (urine?) ruined our experience. We awoke during the night due to the smell and opened a window but had to close it again immediately because it had no screen. We informed the front desk when we checked out in the morning and were told...sorry...and that was that! So....as much as we loved the ambiance of the place, we wouldn't stay there again. :-(

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us at La Residence. I am sorry that your stay was not up to the high standards we truly pride ourselves on. Following your comments, I have followed up with all staff concerned to investigate further as this not a comment we have ever received before regarding our rooms.

Please know that upon receiving your comments, staff were immediately dispatched to the room to investigate. Although they were unable to detect an odor, the carpets were treated and the room deodorized as we take all feedback very seriously.

Once again, thank you for the time taken to offer your comments.

I will be reaching out to you personally in the hope that you may try us again, as I am certain that we would make your next experience a better one.

Traveling through Napa Valley and was suggested to try this place. In all my trips to the area for wine tasting, I had never stayed here. What a gem, great location; a little oasis on two acres with the mountains and vineyards and the gardens made for a relaxing peaceful stay. We stayed in the main building on the second floor with a deck over looking the grounds. Breakfast was nice and a good way to start the day. Staff were all pleasant and helpful really seemed to want to help.

Will add to my list of must visit again. Hope they have rooms in the fall - should be very pretty.

Thanks for the relaxing stay!

We had a great experience during our stay at La Residence, The property is tucked away in a beautifully wooded garden area with gorgeous flower beds, plants and water fountains. The grounds are perfectly manicured and clean. It is perfectly located within minutes of the Napa Valley wine country and the vineyards. The staff, managed by Graham Yallop, was as downhome friendly and helpful as you can get. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The concierge, Kimberly Lund made the recommendations and the reservations for all of our wine tasting tours at the vineyards as well as the restaurants we dined at each evening. Outstanding selections. Each tour and restaurant was top shelf. The building we stayed in at La Residence was a beautifully rennovated and antique furnished vineyard mansion built in the late 1800's. We can't say enough about how great our stay was and how well were treated. It was like we were among old friends. We absolutely would not stay anywhere else when we come back again to the Napa Valley wine country.
