Description: La Toque at The Westin Verasa Napa is a showcase for Chef Frank’s modern French cuisine and his passion for fine wine. This “French chef in a California body,” as he likes to call himself, has pushed his cuisine in a more harmonious wine friendly direction and the restaurant has become well known for its savvy wine pairings. Fueled by a passion for excellence, his signature restaurant, La Toque, has been bestowed with a prestigious Michelin Star as well as the Wine Spectator's Grand Wine List Award. From Chef- A commitment to the finest ingredients inspires everything we do. Our menus evolve constantly, showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients as they become available. We are fortunate to be part of a vibrant local food community with a network of dedicated farmers and purveyors that produce the exceptionally delicious foods we present to you. The Core Menu features a collection of seasonal La Toque Classic dishes. With this menu, you chart your own dining experience, choosing either three or four small plates and a dessert. The Chef’s Table Tasting Menu and Vegetable Menu are both presented as an extensive progression of flavors and textures and should be served to the entire table. Pairing wine and food is our passion. Our culinary team and Sommeliers taste together daily, constantly exploring, looking for those pairings that elevate both the food and wine, creating harmony. The wine pairings offer a unique opportunity to enjoy a wide range of styles and flavors. Ken Frank – Chef Proprietor

Had the Chef's tasting menu, it was pricey, but WELL worth the experience. The food was incredible, service was impeccable. If you're looking for a treat, definitely check it out.

This restaurant is highly regarded, but I can’t see why. They require a credit card to secure a reservation, that usually means something. In this case, I think it was so that we couldn’t leave.

It took 27 minutes to get cocktail in front of us after we sat down. Our server was slow and inattentive the entire evening - which lasted 2.5 hours (and not the good kind of hours).

The food is ordered in a “tasting” format, so you choose several small dishes. Think: tapas. The menu is well written and looks amazing, but we were disappointed with every dish - all of them. We ordered the wine pairing that had the restaurant choosing the perfect glass for each course. Again, lackluster, average wines were served.

Here is the kicker: the evening cost us $459. That’s two cocktails, two 3-course pairings, wine pairings, and mandatory gratuity.

Save some money and heartache. Enjoy someplace like Ruth’s Chris TWICE and a still have money left over for the Uber.

For our first dinner in Napa, we decided to go to Michelin award winning La Toque at the Westin near DT: We were very happy we did.

I ordered the five course meal ($130) w/ wine pairing ($70). You have you choice from a number of dishes, including a couple like foie gras and caviar w/ an upcharge. I opted for the skate, tempura fried alaskan halibut, duck breast and Hawaiian swordfish. For dessert, I selected the fine cheeses.

To start, we were given a complimentary amuse bouche. Like the name indicates (mouth teaser), it was a great way to wake up your palate: 5 Stars.

My skate was paired with a Austrian light white wine. The chef thought this dish out well, as the morels & fava beans were good accompaniments to this first dish: 5 Stars.

Secondarily, the halibut, pickled ramp & shaved celery root was excellent, and was paired w/ a French chardonnay. The light batter of the fresh halibut paired nicely w/ this old skool chardonnay. The wine was not buttery like we are accustomed to American chardonnays. The latter would have ruined the fish: 5 Stars.

Thirdly, the aged duck breast, spring onions, and beets paired w/ a Sonoma pinot noir was genius. The duck breast had some crispy skin, and the combo had my taste buds scintillating: 5+++++ Stars.

My last main, the swordfish w/ baby spinach was paired w/ a Spanish garnacha wine. The course went well together. However, the fish seemed a little overdone for my taste: 4 Stars.

Lastly, the fine cheeses w/ walnut currant toast was a great way to end the meal. I did not do a wine pairing w/ dessert, and opted to save some of my wine from the prior course - I had plenty to drink - LOL. The toast was slightly warm, and went well w/ the soft cows milk cheese, the pungent cheese, and the sheeps milk cheese. I was in cheese heaven: 5 Stars.

The service from Maria, the sommelier, and the rest of the team was fantastic. Maria was very knowledgable about the menu, and was able to field all the questions we had. Likewise, the sommelier was very informative about the wines and why they paired well with each dish - He was spot on! Lastly, the remainder of the team were attentive and friendly: 5+++++ Stars.

Regarding the ambiance, its very nice in La Toque. There are square tables, booths and a couple of round tables by the fireplace. We opted for the latter. You can see the kitchen from our table, as well as the remainder of the spacious restaurant. The ceilings are high so even though others were talking loudly, we could carry on a convo: 5 Stars.

La Toque is well deserving of its Michelin star. The chef is creative and pairs the food well w/ accompaniments. The sommelier is very knowledgable, and the wait staff is excellent.

We celebrated our anniversary here. The atmosphere is very pleasing for couples as tables are nicely spaced and there is little noise despite all tables being full. The food is obviously gourmet (nothing spectacular, however) with a nice presentation and the service is impeccable. Overall a delightful experience but for the hefty price.
