“Very Nice Resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

Overall the resort was very nice. It was cleanly and peaceful. The bocce courts were a nice bonus. The price was good for what we got and we had a great time!

One knock would be that the food was somewhat overpriced at the pool and it took a while to get to us.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the pool.

It's a pleasure to have hosted your Napa visit, and we're thrilled to hear that your Meritage stay was an exceptional one. We will certainly explore any service delays at the pool, and we thank you for bringing this feedback to our attention. We'd love the opportunity to host you again, and we encourage you to reach out the next time you're in the area. Many thanks again for your time and review!

This hotel is about four miles from anything other than industrial warehouses. The room was nice enough, as was the view of the vineyard. Our room was quiet being away from stairs, elevator and on the third floor. I was really excited about the walking trails in the vineyard thinking I could hike in the morning for a workout, unfortunately the trails were maybe a mile total including backtracking along the same routes to see the whole vineyard. It is quite pretty with very nice views. I ended up walking around the area to get a full hour hike in, unfortunately there is NOTHING in the area except industrial warehouses. The gym was ok, but very busy with only 3 moderately nice ellipticals. They do provide a bus that will take you into Napa main st area, but I would rather be closer to restaurants and shopping or have a nice area to exercise outside.

Room Tip: Third floor, view of vineyard

Many thanks for being a guest of our property and for taking the time to share the experience of your stay. While we're happy to hear that you enjoyed your room and the natural beauty of our surroundings, we're sorry that the location of our property fell short of your expectations. As noted in your review, our shuttle services is a great tool for easing your regional navigations, and we hope that you'll consider joining us again and allowing us the opportunity to showcase this service and some of the many other engaging amenities featured on site and within our area. This was a great place to stay while visiting Napa. It is a little far from most of the wineries but it was quite with lots to do. The only reason I did not give 5 points was because they had no bar service at the pool. Great view looking over the pool, well worth the extra $ to have a patio. You must make time to go to their bar with bowling! Staff was friendly and the shuttle service to town every night was a hugh plus! Can't wait to go back!

Check-in process was horrible. We arrived at 3:20 and were told room was not ready. We gave our cell the phone # for them to call us when room is ready. We did not receive call on cell phone. We complained at the registration desk around 4:30 and were told they may have left message on phone. There was no message on our cell phone. They immediately gave us a room. When we arrived home the next day, our answering machine had a message that our room was ready. The registration staff need better training or should pay better attention to customer instructions. We needed the room to prepare for the wedding.

The room, wedding ceremony and celebration dinner were very nice. Due to the terrible registration process, we would not recommend this place. Also, when we reserved the room on-line, we did not receive a confirmation e-mail until I called 2 days later to inquire. We asked them to e-mail us the confirmation and when we received it, the e-mail, residence address and phone number belonged to someone else. We had to call back to correct the information and was told they made a keying error.

The property is beautiful, the lobby, the grape vine's, and best of all, the spa and wine tasting areas are located in a cave. It is clean an well maintained. We visited the property primarily for spa services, celebrating my birthday. Our choice was based on the services available, price and the use of the pool. The spa services were amazing!! We so enjoyed our therapist's that we revisited the spa and requested the same therapy services and therapist's, to celebrate my husband's birthday the next month. We have boasted about our services to all of our friend and we intend on returning time and again.

Room Tip: We did not stay overnight.

This place tries to be something it's not. The price was high ($470), but having just come from San Francisco, we thought it was par for the course in the San Fran area and were happy to splurge provided the hotel could deliver. Well, deliver it did not! At least the expensive hotels in San Francisco are authentic. This place looks like a mid-grade apartment complex from the outside. We found the interior fit-out and furnishings to be faux and cheap as well. When we walked into the room, I immediately noticed the scuff marks on the doors (cheap doors) and walls near the closet. The bathroom tub was small and made of a mid-grade plastic and the bathroom sinks took roughly five minutes to drain. Our room overlooked the pool area and the vineyard beyond. It was a nice view and we appreciated that. Unfortunately, the patio was dirty and sticky. It was in need of a good hose down and scrubbing. We had our dinner on our patio and the smell from what appeared to be ketchup that was never cleaned up after prior guests interfered with our enjoying our meal. Also, our balcony was directed over the "designated smoking area" which certainly would have added insult to injury had we had to deal with a large group of smokers. Needless to say, we weren't impressed and we wanted to complain, but we were tired from our long day and there wasn't much that they could do at this point. So, we went to bed and hoped the hotel would grow on us and we'd have a better perspective the next morning.

Unfortunately, the next morning my dad tried go to the lobby and grab a major newspaper (USA Today, SF Chronicle, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.) to read with his coffee (his usual routine at hotels), but they said that they didn't carry any newspapers other than the local Napa paper. Very strange. We were happy to check-out of this hotel. It wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been so expensive. If a hotel charges the prices that this hotel charges, then it needs to deliver. This hotel did not deliver and we left feeling fleeced.

Room Tip: Avoid "courtyard" rooms as it's just a room overlooking cement. The best rooms are th...

I just spent 5 nights here - a lovely resort adjacent to a vineyard. Yes, you drive through an industrial park to get there, but once you are in the resort, all is forgotten The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the public spaces are very inviting. The location is convenient for exploring both Napa and Sonoma Valleys. My only complaints: no comfy chair in the room and dim lighting making it hard to read in the evening. I would also recommend a room on the third floor, as I heard EVERY footstep by the family in the room above me.

Room Tip: Third floor facing the vineyard.

Thanks for being a guest of our Meritage Resort and for taking the time to share such enthusiastic words of your visit. We're immensely proud of our outgoing team, and we're happy to hear that they and the many amenities offered on site lent to your enjoyable stay. With that, we certainly appreciate how some of the elements of your room fell short of your preferences, and we look forward to your return and to the opportunity of showcasing some of our other spaces that might be better suited to your inclinations. Please be sure to reach out the next time you visit the Napa region; it would be a pleasure to host you again! Many thanks for your time and review.
