As an owner of Shell Vacation Club, this is one of their properties. This was a "staycation" for us and we absolutely loved it. All the units have kitchens, which we really like as an amenity regardless of where we vacation. Raley's is just a few minutes drive North on Soscol, so you can pick up groceries there. The resort is not located in the heart of town, so if you are an urbanite, stay elsewhere. We like the location for the peace and quiet. The resort has a pathway through a vineyard to the Grape Press structure that you can see from highway 29. Cole's Chophouse is our favorite restaurant in Napa, try their Chocoloate Martini for dessert, yummy!

Room Tip: This is a very popular resort, so book well in advance, ask for a room facing the pool/vineyards.

Available are two types of rooms either taken together or separately but connected by a small vestibule: One BR lock off (with kitchen, LR, BR and huge bathroom) and Studio King. VB is situated about ten minutes from downtown Napa and the beginning of the Silverado Trail. There are now three separate buildings comprising the VB Resort along with adjacent Meritage Hotel. Suggest looking at <www.shellvacationsclub.com> to review photos. My wife and I book the two connecting rooms for a week every November and invite friends to enjoy the Napa Valley and points north.

Room Tip: Booking for non-Shell owners through the Meritage Hotel next door...also exceptionally nice.

I wish I lived there!! We like to travel on the cheap but wanted to upgrade to live it up a bit in Napa. Couldn't believe for how much we paid (like $230?) what we got! A whole apartment - we weren't expecting that! Balcony, luxury bathroom, full kitchen, and...hot tub in the bedroom!! What?!?! Splurge a little for a suite. Seriously the best hotel I've ever been in. We loved it. Very easy to drive from San Francisco to this hotel. The pool was really nice - we were the only ones in it towards the evening. And they have their own vineyard that you can walk around and explore - that was a really cool part too! Obviously, I highly recommend this place. As far as location goes - to tell you the truth it doesn't really matter in Napa Valley - you are going to drive from vineyard to vineyard all day long. It was nice to have our hotel a little off the track. It's easy to spend a lot of money on accomodations in wine country - so this was luxury but surprisingly affordable.

Room Tip: Spluge a little and book the suite! First floor you will have a sitting area outside, but upper floo...

I stayed at Vino Bello for a business trip in early January 2012 and it couldn't have been better. The service was excellent, the location was very easy from the San Francisco airport, the main Napa highway with all the wine tastings, the Silverado Trail, and downtown Napa and Sonoma. The rooms were beautifully appointed and comfortable, the wine tasting in the cave was very cool, breakfast at the on-site restaurant was fabulous, and service was wonderful. The walking trail/vineyard up the hill was a happy surprise, and the jazzy guitar music piped out at the two pool areas and firepit made it very welcoming. Wish I had time to visit the spa. I would seriously consider purchasing a timeshare here.

Stayed in a one bedroom unit and were very impressed. Room was gorgeous with jacuzzi tub, fireplace, spacious bathroom, well stocked kitchen and nice bed linens (except too large pillows but fortunately I had brought my own). Loved taking walks in the vineyard, playing bocce ball and the wine tasting evening was very nice. We had room service and ate at the onsite restaurant and it was excellent. The staff was wonderful as well.

Unfortunately I can't give it 5 stars for the following reasons: Wi-fi was very slow at times and didn't work in certain areas. They should suspend the mandatory $15/day fee until they get this worked out. But our big complaint was the noise!! It was a little riduculous. We could hear EVERYTHING our neighbors did - closing doors, closing drawers, every step they took, we could even hear what they were watching on TV. For 2 or 3 nights in a row we were kept awake from the night owls above us walking around etc. The worst was on the 4th night when they checked in a new family above us at 3:00am!! (not kidding). So again we were kept awake by the really loud noise of them settling in. We called the front desk and they apologized but nothing seemed to change as the noise continued till almost 5:00am. We were not happy!! The hotel is aware of their major noise issue so they should either not allow check-ins at that hour or be considerate to their presently booked guest and put the late check-ins on the ground floor or at least in a room that doesn't have guests right underneath who they know are TRYING TO SLEEP!

As unhappy as we were wth that situation we will likely return if we can be guaranteed a third floor unit as we loved everything else about our stay. Or now we'll at least know to bring earplugs :)

Room Tip: Third floor room!!

The Vino Bello Resort was an exceptional experience. There are seperate buildings, much like a small, upscale apartment complex. Our one-bedroom suite was esconced in the Chardonnay building. It was luxuriously appointed in most everyway. The suites were clean, with obvious attention to detail. The suite design was warm and charming, yet with a new feel.

We did, however, experience an unfortunate glitch our first night. We were visiting during a chilly night in October, so we turned on the heat. By the wee hours of the morning it was very clear the heat was not working. It proved to be a rather uncomfortable night of "half-sleep" as we opted not to have a repairman in our suite in the middle of the night. We contacted the front desk in the morning and the issue was addressed by the time we returned from some lovely local vineyards. I was a little surprised that we weren't offered some small perk or recompense for our trouble, however.

All in all, I would give the Vino Bello a 4.5 out of 5 stars, if it were an option.

Room Tip: I didn't have the experience, but I wouldn't think that a suite on the first floor, whose wa...
